Reflections of an OAP
Reflections of an OAP
Reflections of an OAP
There’s more to ageing, than just growing old
There’s the wealth of experience, and stories to be told
The bones may creak and grown,
but you know you’re not alone
when your digits go a walking, on the internet
The world’s silver-surfers impart knowledge without favour
No questions too small, nor problem they’ll not savour
But by far the best chancer’s,
are the Soouth Shield’s Sundancer’s,
with their merry quips, and cheerful flow,
they pick us up, when we are low
There’s more to ageing, than just growing old
There’s the wealth of experience, and stories to be told
The bones may creak and grown,
but you know you’re not alone
when your digits go a walking, on the internet
The world’s silver-surfers impart knowledge without favour
No questions too small, nor problem they’ll not savour
But by far the best chancer’s,
are the Soouth Shield’s Sundancer’s,
with their merry quips, and cheerful flow,
they pick us up, when we are low

Are you an OAP or just very astute.
How was a totally inorganic world able to create organic life? Answer it couldn't and didn't

Get her on here and we will welcome her with open arms (just a figure of speech) and by coming reading and posting it could stimulate her into joining and arouse her interest.

Re: Reflections of an OAP
I am an OAP and I can look back in pride on all of my achievements despite a severe lack of a formal education.

Re: Reflections of an OAP
I am afraid Popsk but with my fiddle the G string broke years ago. And I can no longer fiddle with the girls anymore. I might be old but I am not a dirty old man as I can still shower myself every day now. lol I never realised how hard it is to shower standing on legs with no feeling in them and trying to use one hand to soap yourself, while holding onto a rail at the same time. And no before you ask, there is no room in the shower for a shower chair.

Re: Reflections of an OAP
Many of today's youngsters seem to lack the most basic of social niceties, eg to hear "please" or "thankyou" is rare indeed, it's as if to utter such words would somehow affect their 'Street-Cred'. You do, occassionally, hear them and it restores your faith in humanity. But what the youth of today need to bear in mind is, 'That what goes around, comes around' and one day they'll be the OAP's of their age.
In days of old
when we did as were told
and a clout around the ear was the norm,
Poorly contrasts with today
Where the young will have their say
and be damned to the rest of the world.
In the days of our youth
when we weren’t so uncouth
and the world lay at our feet,
Where manners oiled the way
but we still had our say
niceties of the time applying
But the young of today
Whilst they may get their way
Must also have an eye to the future
For as they get older
and their children become bolder
Will attitudes now held, endure?
