environmental debate in York

Post by Simon Laman » Fri Jul 01, 2005 11:01 am

Tuesday 19th July 2005, 1.00pm-3.00pm: The Earthwatch York Balloon Debate, Central Hall, the University of York.

The environmental charity Earthwatch are partnering with the Environment Department at the University of York for what is sure to be a lively and stimulating debate on the subject of UK biodiversity.

Five committed environmentalists will argue the case for their chosen species – the brown hare; the juniper; the nightjar; the ragworm; and the sturgeon – and you, the audience, will vote for the candidate you deem most worthy of receiving a (sadly fictitious) £10,000,000 cheque towards its conservation. Admission is free to all, but by ticket only. Students/ educators particularly welcome.

For tickets and more information contact Earthwatch on: (01865) 318856;
