Thanks Sherri, yes I am going P & O. I don't own a dress as such, just a beach dress for when it is very hot. Also I mainly wear thongs (flip flops for the poms) but have a couple of pairs of flat shoes.

You'll be fine then, Rosie. A pair of shoes or sandals you feel comfortable walking around in is the way to go as there are some good walks to be had.

Sounds good! Did you lose money by changing over? Do they keep deposits etc?

That's good then. Do you tend to book via the cruise company directly or via agents, online or otherwise.
So far on the cruises I have been on, we have booked via agents, mostly ozcruising. Not sure how it goes with them for cancellations.

Good to see you too Anna, I hope all is well with you.

Andy, I doubt I would have the patience to book that far ahead. I've still got two weeks to wait and that's too long. :D

Am thinking of going to cruise the Baltics next year '' May time ''

Never been on a cruise, just hope it will be ok so I do.

A short cruise just in case cruising is not for me.

Which cruise line or ships do you have in mind, whip?

Here's a site where you can read a lot of user reviews & descriptions. Just remember every ship gets a few negs, doesn't mean you wouldn't have a great time on it though.

Well, that's it done and dusted.

I did what I set out to do and that was the Skyrail in Cairns. My friend didn't leave the ship at any port as the humidity was a bit too much for her so I did it on my own.

How did you enjoy it, Rosie? I'm sorry to hear your friend never left the ship.
Have to admit, we all found the humidity a killer but overcame it to a certain extent by getting off to an early start.
For eg in Port Douglas we were doing our own walking tour by about 8am and it isn't too bad in the morning.
By about 12.30pm, we were all feeling the effects of the heat & I was glad to get back on the boat to some cool air and buffet.

We did the sky rail in the morning &I don't recall it being too bad but we came home via the old steam train and it was hot & stuffy by then.

I'd love to hear your review of the ship and the ports.

I don't have too much time at the moment Sherri but will try and give you a little report.

I thoroughly enjoyed Airlie Beach, Cairns and Port Douglas. I only walked around Airlie Beach and Port Douglas and the the Skyrail and Train trips in Cairns. The Barron Falls had lots of water falling down the cliffs and was spectacular. I got off the skyrail for a little walk around at one of the stops and loved walking through the rain forest. Karanda as you know is a bit of a steep climb uphill to the village but I did it even if it did take me a while. Back down on the train was also spectacular seeing the rain forest from a different perspective. I would do it all again if it was on my doorstep.

We enjoyed the cruise, had lots of laughs and met some lovely people but I have to say I won't do it again. The seas got a bit rough for the two days sailing from Port Douglas to Brisbane but that didn't worry us like it did some people. I suffer from vertigo and when I didn't feel too good in the morning of the last day of sailing one little vertigo tablet fixed that.

It sounds as if you had a good time, that is the main thing.
Sorry to hear the water got a bit rough on the way back. From memory, we had smooth sailing till the second last day of our cruise to Far North Queensland, when it got rough, and I don't take to too much motion well, but a friend & I spent a few hours in a small hot tub at the back of the ship and I think being in that, we didn't notice it.

Glad to hear the cruise went okay Rosie. I'm due for a cruise this year somewhere, maybe NZ or maybe European cruise.....have to decide, but want to go on it before end of year. Hoping to do a family cruise together, I said to the family, we don't have to be in each other's way, the ships are so big, it's like.....see ya at dinner time! Usually anyone can find me....where all the specials are with the shops!
