Wonderful Science

Post by ralph » Tue Jan 23, 2018 1:03 am

I watched a programme on TV this evening where a scientist clearly demonstrated how unfair treatment can lead to aggressive behaviour. Two monkeys were in cages placed side by side. The monkeys had a number of small rocks in their cages. They were taught that by giving the scientist a rock, they would be rewarded with food. Each time the monkey on the right handed over a rock, it was rewarded with a grape. The monkey on the left watched intently then handed over a rock. It was rewarded with a slice of cucumber. Disgusted, it threw it aside. The experiment went on for some time: grapes to the right, cucumber to the left. Eventually, the monkey on the left threw a bad tantrum and threw its rocks at the scientist.

How much money do we give to scientists to work out this sort of thing? Perhaps we would be better off if the scientists were put in the cages and the monkeys were put in charge.

In charge only when sherri is out on her soapbox, they are too qualified to do teaching.
