I'm 73 and well past the age when most of my family have headed skywards. Mentally I still feel young, with the added advantage of the knowledge that comes with age. Physically I feel every year of my age and maybe a little extra. I have accepted that it is unlikely I will still be around ten years from now and neither dwell upon it or make long term plans. I don't feel particularly old, but remember when I was a kid, how I would have regarded someone of my age: yes, ancient. I was on the phone to a dear old friend this morning and she will be 102 later this year. One of the good things about 'being old' is that you have long ago accepted that at some point you will depart from this life, you hope without too much bother and in a way, like a decent pension, it makes the future more bearable.

What do we have in black & white?
That someone has been seriously sick at age 70? It happens.

Gee, the only person I can think of enjoys writing about people suffering gives himself a burst brain vein I just know he'll enjoy it as much as he enjoyed saying the brits were yellow and most died in the stampede, then he is egged on by someone saying that he is "highly intelligent", for someone to admire another and says that that person is intelligent indicates to me that the one who supports and idolises the perverse personality , is less intelligent themselves

I see you've updated your reply. If I recall, it was originally just 'gee".
Let it go, Max. To say someone is intelligent does not necessarily mean you idolise the person or agree with everything a person says.
The reverse is true too. If someone disagrees with you, it doesn't necessarily make that person an idiot.

Anyway, I am not sure why you are worrying about people who aren't even on the board any more, you can't find a fight to join here?

I'll be 70 in July and I find it hard to believe, I often see people apparently younger than me and refer to them as old, until my wife points out they are maybe 10 years younger than me, in my mind I'm still about 40 :-)
I voted leave

A Minister visits an elderly woman from his congregation. As he sits on the couch he notices a large bowl of peanuts on the coffee table.

"Mind if I have a few?" he asks

"No,not at all" the woman replies

They talk for an hour and as the Minister stands to leave, he realises that instead of eating just a few, he has emptied the bowl.

"I'm terribly sorry for eating all your peanuts,I really only meant to eat a few"

"Oh,that's all right" the woman says "Ever since I lost my teeth all I can do is to suck the chocolate off them"

 Eww, Jeff.

Pilot, sometimes I see photos of people in the paper & it will say so & so, aged 46 (or similar) and I'll feel shocked because I could have sworn they were about the same age.
Late last year I met up with a woman & her husband I hadn't seen in decades. I was their bridesmaid when I was about 18 or 19, then they moved up to Queensland, 1000s of kms away. I was shocked at how much the husband in particular had aged but I'm guessing they looked at me & probably thought the same.

Found out in real hurry that age discrimination happens big time once you get past 60.

Especially with Banks & Insurance companies.

Doesn't matter if you're still in full time employment or not.

Govts. tell you that you can't be discriminated against because of age ... complete BS.

That only applies to making you work longer until you d*e so they don't have to pay you a pension.
Nappies & Politicians should be changed often. Both for the same reason.
I don't have an attitude I have a personality you can't handle.

Completely true, gnads.
It is actually against regulations I think to ask someone's age in any job interview, but they can gauge it by looks & work history to a large extent.
I sometimes wonder why they don't give people past 50 more of a go as I'd say they would be as loyal and stable as the younger ones.

They have their ways for weeding you out. Trying to get you on medical grounds is well used. Maybe it is their pay-back for those who managed to get out early on medical grounds with an enhanced pension.

Did they ask you what s*x you are or did they guess?
