Off on a 14 day cruise tomorrow around NZ from and back to Brisbane.

Ship delayed departure until 8pm for additional quarantine/cleansing following outbreak of virus on current cruise.

Just as well I got the booze package to neutralise that nasty nova virus.

Maybe limited internet so be good everybody.

Forget the zimmer frame, take some antiseptic wipes. Wipe the phone, taps, handles before you settle into your cabin.

Traveler's diarrhea causes four or five loose or watery stools per day. Vomiting may also occur. It usually lasts 3 or 4 days, but about 14% of cases last longer. In rare cases, the diarrhea lasts more than 3 months.

The norovirus is everywhere, not just on ships.

The difference is people on land travel around a lot so when people get a dose, they don't really know where it has come from.

I'd say Andy & family are more likely to stay safe than the average cruiser because the ship will have been wiped down thoroughly and staff will be taking extra precautions.

Any time you eat on a ship, you have to sanitise your hands before you enter the dining area. You never see that in restaurants or cafes on land.

That's not many considering the number of cruises there are.
I'll let you into a secret. These things rage through schools every year & affect almost every class. It can be weeks before everything is back to normal.

Odd that you mention schools Sherri. I have noticed that whenever I phone family members in South Shields, there are often reports of the kids suffering from one or the other minor ailment, which sometimes they pass on to their parents, while living alone down in London and never coming in contact at all with kids, it is very rare for me ever to fall victim to such things. :D

It is a good thing for children to be subjected to simple illnesses it strengthens their immune system, in your case it weakens so watch out in older life.

My first year or two out, I caught a few things but after that I seemed to build up a resistance.
The norovirus is a nasty one though & you're right, it can hit the elderly harder..
