Political correctness gone mad

So now this should be demolished because his beliefs weren't in synch with the modern era?

Don't do it.
Modern tourists have enough nouse to know these things are historic and not a reflection of present day England.
Any plans to pull down the tower of London? As after all, it has a history of torture.

If you carried through with all the demolitions, there wouldn't be much left for the tourists to see, would there.

If the so called 'liberals' want racial unrest, they are pushing in the right direction to get it. You can't change history, it was what it was. For example, no one would try to defend slavery today - even though it is still widely practiced in various parts of the world. Black Africans sold their captives to white slave traders, the Arabs were big slave traders, throughout history the winning side in conflicts enslaved the losers, Barbary pirates dealt in Christian slaves, the Ottoman Empire had slaves ... the list goes on You just have to look at how the newly independent African States have behaved: The Rwandan Genocide, the tribal murders in the Congo, the activities of Boko Haram in Nigeria, Idi Amin's expulsion of the Asians from Uganda. the butchery that went on in Sierra Leone God help us, how dare they be pointing the finger at anyone before putting their own houses in order.

That's exactly what I thought, Ralph.
There is no culture, no time in history when any group has been perfect.
Every generation sees the rise of new ideas, but it doesn't change the fact that some figures from the past had a huge influence on their times. Some did amazing things, and apart from that, the statues & buildings themselves are now part of a place's history & heritage.

The band wagon going utter bonkers again.

If it offends, don't go near it.
