Had some American visitors join us for breakfast this morning and they hadn't heard of lawn bowls so we took them barefoot lawnbowling they were fascinated
If they don't play the game in the USA, where did it originate
Cheers

The ancient Egyptians used to play a form of bowls with round stones.
Apart from that I know nothing else.

I'm not sure why your American friends never heard of it, after all there are cities and universities named after this sport, such as Bowling Green University, Bowling Green, Kentucky; Bowling Green, New York and Bowling Green Missouri.

Used to play it when I was a kid.

My dad loved lawn bowls. It's very big down here in Victoria.
A lot of older people play.
When dad was alive I always thought it was a bit stiff (given the age of some of the teams, with members usually between 60-90) that they didn't cancel the games on days of extreme heat, such as 45c. Any team that bowed out had to forfeit the round.

:D I was looking for the 'like' button for a second there, kitten.

It's a good social sport, for sure.
Hope you are feeling better now.
