Flowers for Global

Post by sherri » Mon Jul 28, 2014 11:01 pm

I have some details.

Global's funeral service is being held on Saturday 9th August at Birkenhead Baptist church in Auckland, NZ.

I am not sure why the delay, not asking, but I do know some of the family don't live in NZ, so maybe that is it.

I am going to order some flowers to send and some people indicated they would like to put in something towards them.

Last time we had a death (Kassandra's) how we organised it at the time was danet ordered and paid for the flowers in advance & showed the screenshots etc and then anyone who wanted to put in towards them sent a private message and was given danet's bank account details where they could make an internet payment so the cost was shared.

I don't know how people feel about that, it involves a degree of trust in me I suppose.

But what I will do is order and pay for some flowers to be delivered on Friday 8th August.

If anyone feels they would like to chip in towards them, they can PM me for bank details or I also have a paypal account if that is easier. I will send a screenshot of the order etc privately. How much people would like to pay towards it is up to them. I think about 4 or 5 of us indicated we might be interested. I am willing to pay all or part of the total sum, whatever, but if by chance I find I get more than the cost of the flowers, it will be forwarded on for a donation. I will message people concerned privately if that happens.

The one I was looking at is white simplicity but there is also a designers choice sympathy sheaf or the one called Love's journey.
This is white simplicity.

I hope to order in the next day or so, if anyone has any preferences, just let me know.

Fine with me Sherri

but once you've paid for & sent the flowers

how will contributions be made equitably? :)

Okay, I ordered the flowers as above yesterday, for delivery 8th August.
So far there seem to be 8 people interested and I am in the process of sending PM's, but what it amounts to is flowers cost $86 incl delivery so if all 8 of us put in $10.75, that would cover it.

I would also like to say that if by chance more money is put in than the flowers cost, or more than 8 end up putting in, I will let everyone know and we could decide what charity to donate to. Would be documented with screen shots.

But if that amount is a bit too much, people are welcome to just put in whatever they like, I will pick up the difference.

I went to the tribute page and used parts of several messages there to write the message for the card that will accompany the flowers.

There may be some troubles for people trying to pay internationally but if everyone manages it, we could be left with some money to spare.
Because the service isn't for a few more days, I may be able to upgrade the order to the deluxe version or if they won't let me change the order, I could donate to a charity (receipted) of your choice.

I am so sorry Ralph. I apologise.
 I don't recall seeing the message, are you saying I replied to it? I have had a look in my PMs and cannot see it now, perhaps I have accidentally deleted, but will PM you with details now.

I have had a very bad week here myself I am afraid, so my mind has been in other places.

That is now 12 of us now.
When you consider that some people have been complaining this is a small board, I think that is a great effort.

As you will see, if everyone is able to pay (I know international payments can be hard to arrange), then we are going to end up with some left over funds, probably to the tune of about $40.

Okay, quick survey here. What would you like me to do with the extra?

Here are the options
A: Upgrade to a dearer arrangement (I can contact the flower people and see if this is possible and I would then pay over the extra)

B: Donate the extra to a charity. Which one would you suggest?
