Global
I am sorry to say that Global (Bruce) passed away today. I think it was at 11.55am.
I sent a message to Michelle this morning to ask how he was doing and have just had the reply.
Very sad news, he loved this board and enjoyed making his posts. He was a bit of a character.
RIP Global.

Re: Global
Sad to here this
And glad that me,Ling and Mary spent a little bit of time with him for half a day in Auckland a few years back.
Anyway the old bug*er won "Board Members Carking It"
Which ironically he would have worn as a badge of honour like his prolific posting badge he awarded himself.
I think all on here added to his value of life in his last few years as he was pretty much confined to home.
If anyone is going to oganise a bunch of flowers with some messages from board members for his funeral I think he would have liked that.
Quite happy to donate but I'm not tech savvie enough to organise.
A great job for Sherri I reckon!
Anyway RIP Global

So very sorry to hear about Global. He must have suffered a great deal over the last few years and it amazed me the way he kept bouncing back. He fought a good fight and his troubles were borne with great courage. RIP Global, you will be missed.

Re: Global
I've been here in the UK for the past couple of weeks and think Global must have given me a little push to check into the shop. I am so very sorry to read of his passing and I know he will be missed. Condolances to his family.
He loved this forum and I am sure it gave him a lot of pleasure over the years.
RIP Global I won't be surprised if you manage to send the odd post from beyond

Re: Global
So sad to hear about Bruce, he will be sadly missed by all. I was in regular contact with Bruce away from the boards regarding Tyneside railways. I often sent him local publications like the history of the Marsden Rattler, at the finish he knew more about the rattler than I did.
Would love to contribute something towards his memory.

If anyone deserves a bunch of flowers, Global does. The problem is I have no idea of Michelle's home address and she told me yesterday she was upset at the moment and probably would not be back on Facebook for a few days.
I will see what I can do.
There is no point in us sending any flowers to Global's old address as it was rented and I think Michelle had to close down a few things like that last week.
I will see what I can do to find out more.

Re: Global
I have sent a message to Michelle to ask whether they are having flowers or prefer a donation to a charity in lieu, but in the meantime I looked at some flower sites because some people here said they might be interested.
If things do go ahead, I saw this site where I would be able to order. It includes delivery, tax etc in the price and perhaps a small bunch or wreath might be suitable. I am willing to order and pay it all, whether anyone contributes or not. Later if anyone does wish to put in something towards it they can, and they can message me for bank deposit details later if it does go ahead and that way the whole process will be completely private. Not yet though as nothing is organised. Once I had an idea of how many people were interested, we could go from there.
On the card I would probably just put something such as "from all your friends on Sanddancers" but am open to suggestions.

Does anyone have any preference for any particular arrangement?
The sympathy sheaths etc are down near the bottom.
