The Shed! AUGUST PHOTO CHALLENGE

Post by danet »

Okay I got a theme....I was meandering in the OH's workshop/shed the other day, and took pics of all his work benches, and oddities, so in a way, the theme is...

The Garage or Shed's hidden treasures/machinery/objects and work areas.

I have always loved the blokes shed, my dad has always had a shed and workshop area, and the OH, and the son has one also. The son's has a more upmarket cleaner looking one, whereas the OH has a real industrial 'oily' atmosphere.

And just for good measure, I am going to put some pics up of the ole man's shed, just for an idea.
That Vespa is his very first compressor he got when an apprentice back in the early 1970's, and still going good.

Oh dear excluded from an entry again. I think, but I might be wrong that there would be very few members who would have a shed. So I will just sit down and shed some tears.

global......It's not about what a person owns re: a shed or workshop, it's about taking a photo of a garage or shed, even at your local petrol station, they may have a mechanic pit or garage there, just ask if it's okay to take a photo.
It's much like asking to take a photo of a pier or ship, does everyone here own a pier and/or ship? No. Well....same goes with this month's choice. Neighbour, relative, friend, some are bound to have their 'blokes shed' 8) Gives some more awareness of the blue collar industry, or that some people just like to have a shed to tinker in, even if doing up a car.

I love those photos, danet. Interesting topic.
As you say, most people will have access to at least see a shed/garage of some description.

I wouldn't mind seeing photos of andy's garage actually. Must have a ladder or a hammer, at least.

I think it's a great topic because it's historically interesting.
Who wouldn't love to see photos of a typical workshop area/shed or whatever from different eras throughout history?

What looks like just a collection of junk or a mess to us will be just as interesting to people in 20 or 50 years, to see what our life was like.

I have a friend who regularly goes over to England with her husband (once a year). The spend the time driving around, popping into second hand shops and antique shops to buy old tools. That's his hobby. Costs them a fortune to get them shipped backed to Australia, mind you. I think she is off to England again any day, otherwise I would get a photo of their garage. :D

I was thinking of it just recently, Siam sam. :D
I recall he said a lot of people were turning their sheds into little party huts.(well, not in those words, but I forget what he called it)

I would still be interested to see workbenches and that sort of stuff from around the UK. I might toddle out and take a photo of some mess in our garage later on, too.
