Attended a hog roast last night down pub.
Whilst sitting there with pork sandwich in one hand and a pint in other there,
came along some young lads and lass's. 20 -21 ish in age to participate in the 0ccasion of the roast.
They bought a sandwich and drinks and we never saw them borrow any money.

Just an observation like.

wednesday this week my daughter will arrive home from oz, stocking up on food for her. it will be nice to see her after all these months apart. but you have to let the kids fly the nest and find out about the great wide world and enjoy a dream of a lifetime. she went scuba diving at cairns last week, i hope she enjoyed it as i was an advanced open water scuba diver and enjoyed the red sea off jeddah when i was working for the the saudi government at the airports it is beautiful underwater on the coral reefs more so on a night dive, it is the only way to experience weightlessness without going into space.

Some of us like to hear about happy families. My granddaughters are arriving here on Saturday and I am looking forward to seeing them again.

I have nothing against families being happy I just don't go for all the gush.
My lot male and female have been many places abroad '' work and play '' but, I never got sentimental over their return.

We're used to the Gulls here. All through the night they squawk.

Siam Seems you have a nice daughter that looks after her Mum.

Ours have now moved away and we don't see so much of them.

I'm just waiting till I become housebound and threaten to "Will" their share to the Cats Home.

I bet we get some attention then.

Sounds like you have a lovely daughter Sam.

Our first born daughter is heading your way in March next year. She will be staying for 10 months and working in Guildford Surrey. I'm sure I will get all emotional on her departure and arrival back home as well.

We are busting at the seams now with foreign workers,
we don't need any more to come here and work.
Our infrastructure cannot cope.

Guildford, Oh dear me the devils own place to be sure.

No you're not .... you're busting at the seams with illegal immigrants that are bludging on
your welfare system.

An Ozzie coming over, virtually doing work experience, paying tax, rent & providing a service
is hardly a burden on the system.

There are plenty of Poms over here doing the same.... no one makes them less welcome.

Whip you're still a d1ck.

Gnads, as far back as I can remember, there has always been Australian and New Zealand youngsters coming across to Britain/Europe to spend a couple of years sightseeing etc., and funding it by working as casuals in bars, shops etc. Most then return home. They are not, as you say, to be confused with the economic migrants that are coming mainly from Africa and Asia. Neither do they bring with them some of the less desirable (from our point of view) cultural baggage that can be so divisive. These days however, one dare not say so, or a very noisy minority will be immediately spring into action and try and silence you by branding you as a racist. A sad state of affairs.

A French singer loved gulls he even sang a song about them. He sang. "Thank heaven for little Gulls".

My cousin emigrated to Australia many years ago to give his 4 children a better life. They all returned to England for a couple of years to work in bars etc before returning home to settle down. Bushmermaid, I hope your daughter enjoys England as much as they did. She will be made welcome.

My daughter landed in Spain Wednesday morning,I got a phone call thursday morning which went exactly like this

ring ring

Me ; Hello

Daughter ; Daaaaad

Me ; How much do you want ?

Daughter ; Had me purse and phone ,c/cards stole last night [her first night]

Me ; Joking

Daughter ; No Honest

Me ; You alright ? what happened ?

Daughter ; Yes I’m fine,we were in a club dancing,it was crowded ,a girl took one of my hands while her male friend took my other lifting them in the air pretending they were being friendly dancing with us,
they moved on after 10/15 seconds, minutes later I noticed my bag which was on my shoulder had been zipped open and purse with all my money in it and phone gone…………
