  Love it, danet.

You know, back in the day, when I was in my early 20s, I hated being skinny. I can remember buying tablets from the chemist. They were called Weight On.
Well, they have finally worked!!

Now I face 2 weddings and a meeting with some relatives from a long lost line in England. I've got a couple of months to get into shape. :D

Good one Danet

I'll join in too because since I gave up the smokes I have put on a little weight. I don't really want to lose weight, I just don't want to put any more on.

I was put on a sugar free diet 18 months ago because my sugar levels were sky high and I wasn't at all well. It took about six months to come good and my doc said I could have some sweet things now and then but I think I may be overdoing it.

So my weight is 59kg and I hope it's still the same this time next week :D

geez....I don't believe it....why do you need to ask that sort of question of a woman in public for Gnads? What's it to do with anyone here but BM herself? May as well ask, how long is a piece of string I mean, now that you know, whatcha gonna do about it, hold her to ransom if she doesn't reach her goal weight?

No smiley face behind that so I'm the one gonna say "GEEEZ!"

One might then ask the question what's the point of this "weight loss" thread ey?

People seem to want to know what I weighed/weigh & how tall I am & certain other people take the pizz about your size.

It hasn't deterred me from posting my weight & my goal weight .... so all things being equal when someone posts what
they weigh now .... in a post for weight loss .....

what the ferk is the problem with asking what their goal weight is??????

One might also ask what the ferk has it got to do with you what I ask?

If BM wasn't inclined to answer she didn't have too ... I didn't twist her arm.

What...no smiley face for me either Gnads? geeez :P

Basically, men seem to be open about how big they are, and have no qualms about being 'big heavy blokes' etc. More so than I have seen women admitting to this. It's just the way it is. Asking a woman about her weight is just as bad as asking her age, apparently. If it is a self confession people want to do, then no worries, but singling out, or asking it of someone to reply, isn't what I consider freely given details in the first place. (okay not twisting their arm, but sort of putting a person on the spot). :D
Please don't ask me what goal weight I want to be, as I believe it's a fickle question to answer...because, we live in interesting times, food isn't what it used to be, and we just don't know what poisen we are eating or drinking, and how it's effecting us, until it becomes evident.
My answer to weight goal is this....weight loss is.....taking it one day at a time, being careful of what food products one consumes, being also aware that wheat, dairy and alcohol do have a clogging effect on our systems. It's about being aware and slowly losing weight, as the slower you lose it, the more permanent it will stay off. It's also about reaching a weight loss you are comfortable with, not a 'size' to fit into, or a number on a scale. One size does not suit all.

I will not like to be as I was when I was 20, simply because as we age, we do change, like a nun at my kids catholic school explained in class once, that they are like 'transformers' always the same but changeable, just like the transformers, you can change them around, but it's still the same connected body.

So that means, as we age, we do change, and need to realize, we won't be the same as when we were 20, and would be ridiculous to think we would like to be the same. Best to accept the way we are, and to lose a bit every week, if possible, (better than gaining) and then, maintenance, that is the next big step.
You know why so many people put weight back on, say after losing it for an event (eg: wedding) because it was too drastic, too much of a goal orientated agenda for a date, not a lifestyle choice, after all.
Also, dieting and losing, is one thing, maintaining is another, and from what I have read (don't take my word for it, google it), that the fat cells have been stretched and would try to do anything to get back the fat again, so if you keep to a maintenance for at least a year, you are going to do well.

The battle of dieting, and then, that battle of stablilizing that weight loss.

Also, you have heard of people on their 'yo yo' diets....they lose it, then put it back on again, then lose it, then back on again....can do more harm to their health, than just staying overweight in a stable condition.

The trouble is, we all have some 'cravings' or 'addictions' to certain foods or beverages......I went to a seminar (several actually), where they explain, that what you are allergic to, is what you crave.

Okay, I will admint, now, I have been inspired to lessen my body weight for 2 reasons, one is that my old high school is having it's 50th anniversary, and I don't want to feel too puffy, although I am accepting that most of my old school buddies will be in the same boat as myself already, and second, my good friends, Sherri and Gnads being on diets and inspiring me to follow through as well, after all, if youse can do it, then why not me, and why not now, if not now, when then?
No more putting it off, I have begun a couple of days ago, and nope, I will not put what my weight is :P my feet know that, they go 'ouch' coz it's too much weight per square inch for them

 hehe you're welcome Malcolm :D Knew you would thank me one day 8)

Now back to basics of the diet game.... I now take green tea tablets on an empty stomach, Swisse Yeast Care tablets with my food, and Fat Fighters with carb inhibitors to take up to an hour after eating.

Little helpers I call them 8)

You don't need that shyte .... just lining someone else's pocket

It's not "dieting" .... it's changing lifestyle choices :P

oohhh, I need a bit of a kick start :D only bought them as a once of, anyway, how harmful could it be, green tea, and yeast care etc. Au naturale stuff,
Besides, whether it works or not, may make me believe it does. The thing about weight loss, is the detox effect, can give one a cold for some reason, so at least I am boosting my immune system.
It's not "dieting" .... it's changing lifestyle choices

Bravo =D> Touche :D now that is the best way of putting it, definitely changing lifestyle choice. I might use that instead of the dreary word "dieting" :D

Ok… calm the f**k down fat people…

I know you’re hungry, I know ur angry and want to punch someone in the face, but get a grip!!!

We’re on a public forum…

Everyone knows that gnads wouldn’t hold anyone to ransom with their private information…

In fact..

I find it quite refreshing of gnads giving out his private weighty issues and we could all do well to listen up and learn as im positive he’s done a damn good job with his research….

Its not easy eating green but with some spices and dressings and right mixes you will find some quite good dishes out there…

And above all…

If you are serious about losing weight and becoming healthy then you’ll give up the p*ss.. full stop…

Now I know that some of you will have heart failure at reading that last line in particular… but it’s the only way…

For the men… if you are overweight you will have issues with blocked arteries that limit supply of blood to important anatomy.. hearts, kidneys, liver… and the big one… your p*nis…

and for the latter case, may I suggest generic Viagra :D

just sayin like..

Good response Bluey except for that little bit of BS.
Information posted on here is not & never has been private :)

It's only private if you keep it to yourself.

True, gnads.
Well, I've started my liver detox diet if anyone wants to know. :D
Can't say that lemon juice in water is much of a substitute for a cup of coffee. :(
Don't think it will catch on, myself.

On the plus side, I think my scales weren't weighing right in the first location I used them, so I think I may have got a double serve of gluten free muesli.
Thought it was generous.

I'm certainly not angry and feel the need to punch anyone in the face

I have said it as it is. I'm NOT obese but know I have to shed a few kilos for health and looks reasons.
It is as simple as that.

The difference between you and I Blue is that I may be over weight and your no oil painting.........I can lose weight but what are you going to do?

Water and lemon juice isn't ghastly, awful. Just not the same as coffee, that's all. :D Got a glass of it beside me as I type.
No I am not a huge drinker or anything. It is mainly to cut out all artificial colours, flavours, and the effects of chemicals on the system.
I think basically, it is a healthy diet ie 5 salad ingredients and a can of tuna for lunch, 5-7 vegies and small serve of steamed chicken or whatever for dinner. No gluten, red meat, dairy, fast food, coffee, tea, alcohol. Plus some supplements that better be doing some good as they cost enough.
