Weight Loss Thread

Post by J Jackson »

A few years ago I was 16st 6 lbs, when I went on a mission to get down to 12-6 it took me around 9 months and I ended up short of my target sticking on 13-3lbs

However,I promised my family and myself never to get even close to being that over weight again.Anyway, all was going well until, starting last june ,when a combination of to many holidays,a back injury along with an
un-timely bout of man flu [which dragged on for two months] both prevented me from any type of exercise and an over indulgence in comfort eating.

Resulting in me creeping back up to 14st 6lbs[morning weight :D ]

So i’m back on it from today,I’m setting my target at 12st 7…will post my progress regularly on here to try and help me from falling off the wagon.

Anyone else fancy shedding a few pounds, feel free to post your progress in here .

For the record..
6/3/13 = 14st 6lbs

Prefer to get on the scales ever two days,if I’ve gained a few ounces/pounds even though I know its excess fluid it still psshhs me off enough to spurs me on for the next few days,or finding
I’ve drop a few pounds gives me a little boost which makes the dieting worth while.

I go to a naturopath and I am starting a 2 week liver cleansing diet on Sunday. The aim isn't primarily to lose weight but it could happen, as the diet is wheat, dairy, red meat, sugar, tea and coffee free. :(
That doesn't leave much of the stuff I like.

Well I am also jumping on the JJ and Gnads bandwagon.
In my teens I was a bit of a good sort (even if I do say so myself  ). I played many sports and was always active.
I got shunted off to boarding school that didn't have a high emphasis on sport and that, combined with crap food saw me blow out.
That was 25 years ago and I have struggled to get rid of it since. I loose a few kilos and next thing you know I put it back on.
Having a couple of children didn't help things but I also didnt help myself much. Even though we eat very healthy food at meal times, I have a severe weakness for cheese and other nibbly sort of food......especially when drinking beer.
That is my next problem.....BEER. It is no problem to have 5 or 6 beers after work of an evening.

18 months ago I broke my leg and spent 6 weeks sitting on the lounge with my foot in the air. Due to the pain killers I was on I wasn't able to drink and even though I was doing less physical activity than normal I still lost 4 kilos in that 6 weeks.
That was proof to me that my biggest weight problem is beer.

So.......two weeks ago we had a new gym open in town. My daughter wanted to join and I had to go with her to sign up as she is under 18. In their usual sales pitch I was also guilted into joining.
It took me until Monday just gone to actually work up the courage and motivation to step foot inside the door.
5am each day this last week I have been on that treadmill stepping it out for 45 minutes and I am enjoying it immensely.
Combined with being off the beer and strict eating habits I have lost 1.5kgs already and I am full of energy. I am sleeping so much better and have a general 'feel good' feel about me. I am led to believe that in the first two weeks the weight drops off rapidly but once your body and metabolism changes things slow up dramatically.
Starting weight 4th March 77 kilos
8th March 75.5

Perhaps from a motivational point of view perhaps we should all have a weigh in each week.

Yeah ... beer & munchies my downfall

aint paying to go to a gym ... I can inflict enough pain on me for free

will get back into my walking ASAP ... black tea or green tea, no cheese, no sugar, no butter, very little bread (maybe toast now & again)

lots of tinned fish, low fat cottage cheese, fruit & vege, chicken, dry fruit & raw nut mixe

So what's your target weight Bushy?

Same here Gnads.
Very little bread, no butter (that one hurts), all bran with yogurt for breakfast, tin of tuna and salad for lunch and a few steamed veggies at night.
I have lashed out and had two beers tonight but they are the first since last Sunday. During the week I have been drinking soda water with a splash of white wine.

Keep it up Gnads. I'm sure our bodies will thank us for it

Goal weight = 65 kg.
I am tall-ish so can't expect to get down to a size 8 or much under the 60kg mark.
At the moment I am a large 14/small 16. If I can get to a size 12 I will be happy.

geez....I don't believe it....why do you need to ask that sort of question of a woman in public for Gnads? What's it to do with anyone here but BM herself? May as well ask, how long is a piece of string  I mean, now that you know, whatcha gonna do about it, hold her to ransom if she doesn't reach her goal weight?
My old high school's having a 50th anniversary soon, and because of not losing weight as much as I would have liked to, I am going to wear a T Shirt that says "I beat annorexia". :P
