Petrol

Post by Pilot » Thu Mar 29, 2012 3:27 pm

I try to hold back on criticising the government not wanting to post just for t*t for tat reasons but you have to question the wisdom of this government, when they suggest keeping extra fuel in containers and keeping you car topped up, causing panic buying when no strike has been called yet and if and when a strike is called there has to be 7 days warning !
I wonder how many cars are now running down the motorways with containers of petrol in the boot just in case, these cars are potential bombs if the are in an accident. How many private garages are full of stockpiled petrol, how many houses without garages have petrol stored in them ? Was it just a slip up by the government or an orchestrated ploy to get peoples backs up before any action is taken ?

I think somebody up there has either lost the plot or accepted a large donation from a petroleum refiner.
This whole idea is as flaky as the pasty tax.

The accident in York on Thursday happened as a woman, in her 40s, was transferring petrol between containers in her kitchen because her daughter had run out of fuel.

The cooker was on and the petrol fumes ignited. The woman has been treated for her injuries at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield.

The day before had seen controversy over Cabinet Minister Francis Maude's suggestion that people could store petrol in jerrycans at home - advice later withdrawn as a mistake.

How much would you expect in pay to sit in front of thousands of gallons of petrol on a red hot day amongst the maniacs on the road today. I would want to be paid in toilet rolls.

I don't think we can lay the incident of the woman being badly burned, at the door of the Government. She must have led a very sheltered life if she did not realise it is dangerous to to take open petrol containers into a kitchen where the gas cooker is in use. It is a long time since I had to put fuel into a car, but every garage I used, had signs telling you to switch of your ignition, no smoking, no naked flames etc. It's a very sad case but would appear to be her own fault.

Foolish I agree, but a government minister advised people to store petrol in Jerri-cans just the day before, I hear the extra petrol sold brought in millions in duty to the Government just before the end of the financial year, giving better than forecasted results, if I was a betting man I would say that plus taking the heat from some other unpopular decisions in the budget were the reason for this foolish diversion.

Cabinet Minister Francis Maude should be made accountable for endangering peoples lives.
The most stupidest and unintelligent thing to suggest. '' Store petrol ''
i sometimes wonder about ministers mental states. Twerps the lot of them IMHO.

I know its not much consolation but ordinary unleaded is now available at the pumps in Melbourne at the equivalent of 97p per litre!

.97 pence per litre is not cheap.

That's AU$1.50 per litre & that's way more than it's worth.

1.48 pence is AU$2.28 per litre & at that someone should have their ballz in a vice

that's down right theft ..... & you lot changing to a conservative govt are really having a windfall ey?

They're all tarred with the same brush answering to the same masters.
Nappies & Politicians should be changed often. Both for the same reason.
