Sanddancer Encounter Take III

Postby Bushmermaid » Mon Feb 08, 2010 6:41 pm

Yesterday my OH fitted new brakes to a customers car and afterwards whilst he was out test driving the vehicle he came acoss two English backpackers who had bailed out of their campervan.
This van was rolling along and they were out of the van and trying to stop it by holding the two front doors that were open.
My OH could see they were in strife so pulled up and jumped into the drivers seat and pulled the handbrake on.
He asked them what the problem was and this pair (who were as white as ghosts with fright) nervously told him they were happily driving along when they noticed a big huntsman spider crawling down the windscreen.....on the inside of the van.
    so they just jumped out. The driver thought he had selected park before he made his exit but in actual fact he only got as far as neutral
This pair were absolutly terrified the spider was deadly and asked my OH to remove it.....which he did. By this time the spider was inspecting the roof lining of the van and my OH just flicked it outside.
He asked where they were from and he was told "A town onThe River Tyne".
Anyway my OH saw them safely on their way and came back to work pizzing himself laughing.

This is a photo of a similar spider.

My sympathy is with them. I hate those spiders, too.

But there seems to be something spooky going on with your family and this SS connection, bushmermaid. Either that or we are being secretly invaded by them and they are all landing in your part of the world.
I was astounded by encounter #1, flabbergasted by #2, mildly suprised by encounter #3 but now I am eerily waiting for #4 meeting.

I would rather see my ex angry and on the war path than have a close encounter with a spider.
How was a totally inorganic world able to create organic life? Answer it couldn't and didn't

Sherri is right! There is something suspcious about all these
Sandies turning up thereabouts! They are clearly out of their
element and should be supervised closely on all future visits.

Your not wrong.
When my OH came back and told me he found the whole ordeal amusing whereas I found the fact they were SD amusing.

sherri wrote:Either that or we are being secretly invaded by them and they are all landing in your part of the world.

These tourists obviously did their homework prior to leaving home and found out where the best place in Australia is.
I'm sure we would have had more than the three I know about come through the workshop......it is just that my husband doesn't usually ask the right questions....like "where are you from"?
During summer we would have at least 50 lots of back-packers/campers come in wanting help with their clapped out vehicles. Many of them are German and Swedish people but a lot of them are also Poms

I can't say I blame you there.
Economy class is horrible, the pits.
My daughters hate flying with a passion.

$1400 a night.
It doesn't sound like backpackers' heaven there, that is for sure. :D

Just as a matter of interest, whose hand is that holding the spider?
Or was it just a photo from the net?
It's a crazy person-must be male.

You don't hold those spiders, you spray them then whack them with a broom.

When it was that time of the year for the huntsman spiders to start wandering into your house looking for food I never felt safe unless I had a sawn off shotgun under my pillow when I went to bed.

I am still here been here since August nineteen thirty nine have travelled since I was twenty two years old, never got down to the oz or nz. nearest I came was thailand, my daughter was born there now I am the only one in the house without dual nationality. Twenty years at sea then working in saudia and libya and angola made swallow the anchor and retire, I now work in nuclear power stations as a quality assurance engineer, they need me. all I can Say is better the devil you know than the one you dont. You people feel the same way.
