If there is one thing I miss, it's when we used to go camping in the great outdoors when the kids were younger, rain hail or shine  when my son used to race moto-x around Victoria. It was great, especially them cold nights, when someone would always bring the inside stainless steel washing machine tub, and we would get twigs and wood, and light a lovely fire in it, and sit around toasting marshmellows on the end of a stick

I must say though, looking at the pics, youse all look very toasty brown from a high dose of sun.

so whats stopping you now old girl?

I like that silhouette shot of the kid.. who took that one?

and who’s that classy chick in the socks with thongs…

with my tents I look at how easy they are to put up.. out bigger one has three flex poles and that’s it.. two across the centre and one at the front… it’s a six manner that we took up north with us… the smaller one I took to tassie had only two flex poles… the tent was big enough for me to sit in on my chair if it rained… both tents only take about 10 mins to put up… ;)

I was out at BFC the other day and they had these 3 x 3 marquees.. very strong looking and nice height… the legs and roof just unfold as one unit then you put the roof on… 5 min job.. they were only around $240 … the 6 x 3 was $565… so a cheap option if you wanted something that big was to buy 2 of the 3 x 3s …… excellent for shade ;)

Scrappy, in the UK if you keep your kids off for no good reason you could end up serving time!!!, not for a first offence but if you repeated it often, I somehow don't think a long weekend fishing would be considered a valid reason. :D :D :D
On the sunny side of the street.

Old?  Weeeellll Bluey!! I ain't stopping at anything 8) 'cept, now the time has come to enjoy 5 star hotels at this 'advanced' age  :D
For instance, I just booked an adventure (you know, one of those things one would put on the 'bucket list' ) to go for a walk on top of the Syndey Harbour Bridge :D Booked to stay at the Crowne Plaza with view of Darling Harbour. Just one of those 'must do things' in Oz 8)

So stay tuned, will put up photos and talk of that experience soon
In the meantime, I found this little video of the bridge climb. click on link below.

That's a fantastic photo Scrappy.

Danet, I believe the bridge climb is great but do it before winter sets in as apparently it is freezing up the top
Oh how I wish I was going with you:)
Maybe next time!

That's excellent, danet. When are you booked to go there?
As you know, most of my lot here did the climb and they all said it was great.
You won't be allowed to take a camera or in fact anything in your hands, for safety reasons, but they do have an official photographer who takes shots of everyone at set points.
Are you doing the day climb or the dusk climb?

BM, we are doing it this month! Looked at the 14 day forecast, and will be partially cloudy with some sun.
Sherri, doing the 'day' one, no way doing a night time one, I want to see where my feet are climbing! Yes, I am aware you get given these outfits to wear, and I notice all the climbers are wearing ear thingies.....are they walkie talkies or something? And what a shame I can't take my own digi cam...but understandably so, if people do take hand held things as such, it may drop on the traffic below. Anyway, will be needing both hands to steady myself for the climb!
Thanx for telling me about the 'water taxi' Bluey, I think it would be good to do that one also.

Danet get off the water taxi at Darling Harbour and stroll around to Cockel Bay and go to Baia San Marco Italian Restaurant.
I can honestly say it was the best Italian pizza and pasta I have ever had.
L'Aqua restaurant is also very good.
In the same area is the Pontoon bar where Scrappy, Maggie, Wong and myself met up and had a number of drinks
Oh how I wish I was going with you:)

Okey dokey....will take notes of all these places 8) And we are staying right there, at Darling Harbour, in a expensive hotel, lucky it's get 2 nights, get 2nd night free, @ $635 per night, is a bit exorbitant...but, with views of Darling Harbour....hey.....it's a 'once of'...so what the heck! See link below :D Also included is a free buffet breakfast, and a $50 voucher towards other foods etc (mini bar for instance) :D

my kids had 1 day off from school to go camping

Nice photos & enjoyment aside .... your kids just had 42 days off to go fishing & camping.

6 weeks where if your oh was working or had an RDO you could have made a long weekend

& you're on here skiting about it.

One day you say ..... I bet they get taken out of school regularly for your camping trips

A week & 3 days back a school ........ they wouldn't have even blunted a lead pencil yet.

I hope the fishing lessons lead to a career path
My therapist says that I've got a preoccupation with vengeance;
we'll see about that...
