 I was just thinking, if I had taken my photo an hour earlier it would have looked like a car park. There are quite a few teens in the street and not enough garage space for all the cars, so overnight, there are a heap of parked cars.

Well, that's your fun over for now, back to work!!

We are expecting some of this stuff at the weekend, Scotland and many parts of the North have already had a fair bit but it's missed us out. It looks a bit more certain that it will hit the North-East coast this weekend. I took this picture in the park last year.

Just as an aside J, did you find the pages load excruciatingly slow for Photobucket, or do you have a nice fat fast broadband connection?

My recommendation for today is ImageShack, a fully featured free image host with no limit on the size of your storage (file sizes need to be kept below 1024Kb, after registration you are sent an e-mail with an activation code, you need to use this e-mail each time you log in, so don't lose it.

Your images can be tagged for message boards, weblogs, webpages, clickable thumbnails, or to direct your friends and family to your album.

The service even seems fast and efficient on a 56k dial-up connection.

Perhaps you can help me decide which is the best between these two, before I prepare to print.

What absolutely fantastic shots of snow, curly and offthewall. If i ever make it to England, it will be worth it if I can take even one picture that looks as good as either of those. I have never seen scenes like that in my life, just on TV, which is not the same.
I did see snow once, but not on trees etc, just a bit on top of a hill once when we travelled to a snow spot.

ps curly, I thought the baby shot with the night background was best as it made a contrast to the hands. But I am not photo expert. I just liked it.

These pics are actually quite poor versions of snow as we don't get it like we used to. (as the actress said to the bishop)

The tree was from my front window.

This one is of our own Shields version of the Roman Forum from my back window, on the same day, in March(!) last year.

What a fascinating back yard you have there, offthewall.
It does not look like anyone had sat at the benches for a while!
You sounded surprised that you had had snow in March. When does it normally stop then and when would be your coldest time?
Our hottest month here is usually February.
Do you back onto a school? I was intrigued by the building with the high fence behind your property but could not see much and couldn't make out what it was.
It is great having a chance to see some of the shots in and around sth shields, around normal homes and parks etc

Looks like J's a serial thief! Not only has he got the Roman artifacts he's taken the school playground as well! Wait till the kids find out :D

By the way Sherri, I've known us get snow as late as early May (but it's not usual), snow in March or April is not unusual.

Sherri,
The backlane from my house has an area of land between that and the opposite backlane. Up until the 1890's this was a mineral railway line taking coal and other goods to Harton Staithes where they were loaded onto ships for export. When the lines closed down the strip of derelict land was changed into, eventually, a childrens playground. I actually grew up, in the late 50's, playing here. In recent years the area has been renovated through our local Residents Group. This pic is from my roof window, where I take photos of sunsets across the river (see members gallery)

Image

Memor,
The only items I have nicked from the roman fort were old and broken, so I don't think they will miss them!

It appears that a number of us have now got to grips with various methods of posting pictures on the board. Can I now suggest, because this thread has become large and cumbersome, that all new pictures be posted in a new thread of their own.

If possible can we resize the images in an editor before sending them up to an image host, then they will keep the board pages the right size and prevent the need for horizontal scrolling.

p.s. here's another free image host for you to try.

The Image Hosting.com is also worth a try.

Badongo is another good one for you.

Thanks for your co-operation.
