Peter

Post by Jim_in_France » Mon Oct 22, 2007 2:18 pm

Some of you have met my partner, Peter. At the last meeting. I was going to inform you earlier, but my internet has been down all week. I'm afraid that last Saturday 13th at 6.30pm. We had a car accident and Peter died. We have been together almost 18 years and I cant quite believe it. What I find hard, is that Peter was not killed as a direct result of injuries from the crash. But had a heart attack after it. I have only injuries from the seat belt, the same as Peter had. But during the crash, he was affraid and released his belt and opened the door. He was thrown out and landed in a gully. The car landed on top of him, but did not hurt him, as he was protected by the gully. He could not get out and with panick, he had a heart attack. Unfortunately, it took the rescue service 45 minutes to arrive, from only 10 minutes away. By then it was too late! I cant write more at present.

What a shock, and a great shame jim. He seemed like a very nice guy when I met him at the sanddancer meeting. I know how hard it must have hit you and my thoughts are with you.

Jim, The next couple of weeks are going to be very hard. Don't be afraid to lean on your family and friends for support. Take comfort in remembering Peter for all the good times you had.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Stay strong.

Thank you to everyone! I am finding it harder to accept now, than I did last week. I guess it is since the funeral on Saturday gone. I was very busy until then. But now Peters family have gone back and all has been done, It is only now sinking in. I have been told that now is when it gets harder. I feel very sorry for his mother and father. Peters younger brother, who is now 32. Had an accident when he was 17 and was made a paraplegic. Its so sad for them. I am trying to continue as near normal as possible, but I walk around in a daze. He was such a gentle person. I am going to try and put a picture on here of him. It was taken a few hourse before the crash. If not tonight, I will try later. Thank you all again.

Peter is sitting behind and between the man (bald) and woman (in black & white dress). Our french teacher is holding a camcorder just to the left and behind me. It was her who emailed this pic to me today. She came around and contacted telecom for me to get my internet back on.

That is shocking, Jim, It really is.
Sometimes it seems as if life throws some people more hardships than others. I feel for you and for his family-his parents have had their family devasted by car accidents by the sounds of it, it is every paren't worst nightmare.
Take care, the next few weeks and months are not going to be easy. thoughts are with you.
