I have just noticed that on the 'Message Boards'Page, under the heading..
Pommy v Aussie Message Board..it says.....
'let our Aussie friends know how much life is better in sunny South Shields'...now is that correct English or should it say...
'let our Aussie friends know how much better life is in sunny South Shields???? and why is one wrong..OR are both wrong OR are both right???

Also in the Charver Room the heading should read,"If you're a ..."

Or is that supposed to be irony!?!?

Due to the inclement weather that South Shields is noted for. The claim of Sunny South Shields is therefore a departure from the truth..

I would say that somebody is correct but after someone does let you know the reason why then it would be someone.

And I think the same context applies to your first question.

If it is requested of you TO: Let our Aussie friends know how much life is better in sunny South Shields. This is correct

If it is asked as a question to ourselves WE SHOULD: Let our Aussie friends know how much better life is in sunny South Shields.then this is correct.

But in the long run I think we should wait fo an English school teacher to come along to let us know what her-his opinion is re your question.

I believe the second line is grammatically correct, Mal.

Betty,so far I agree with you..ie the second line.
Global...ref the someone/somebody,my research shows they are both the same, with the same definition..so either is correct, and they are both pronouns.

Very good Sherri but I think it would have been better if you had said.

Life is better in OZ.  But it is infinitely better in New Zealand.

In my opinion the first quote sounds to me like life in sunny South Shields used to be worse than it is now

The second quote sounds like Sherri's/Global reply, except...

We are having a better life in South Shields than if we lived in Aussieland or New Zealand  :D
