Avoid the points penalty??

This is from a friend of a friend...!!!

Just thought I would share this with you, this friend of a friend, works in the
speeding fine department in a Magistrate's Court and in the
course of his work with 'fines, their payment methods, and how
points are automatically added against drivers licences' he discovered
something very interesting about 'If You Get a Speeding Fine.'

This has been tried and does works so if you ever get into this
situation, you have a way out.

He discovered that this procedure works nationwide. Read it and
try it, you have nothing to lose but the points on your license. This
is how it works:

If you get a speeding ticket or went through a red light or whatever
the case may be, and you are going to get points on your licence, then
there is a method to ensure that you DO NOT get any points.

When you get your fine, send in the cheque to pay for it and if the
fine is say, £40, then make the cheque out for £41 or some small
amount over the fine.

The system will then have to send you back a cheque for the
difference, but here is the trick! **DO NOT CASH THE REFUND CHEQUE!!
** Throw it away!! Points are not added to your licence until all
financial transactions are complete. If you do not cash the cheque,
then the transactions are NOT complete.

However, the system has gotten its money and is happy and will not
bother you any more.

This information came to the person working in the Court and originated from a very reliable
company that deals with this sort of software used by the system, supposedly throughout the country.

Worth a go or not ???

It would be rather pointless of you not to try it.

Its a money making scheme..
Too damned right Scrappy! It's getting worst than I ever remember. They are soft targeting people in the easiest streets and a friend of ours, whom is 50, father of 3 lovely kids and wife, and nice home, and fairly suave in business....as he is always on the road, and has just easily lost his licence for 3 months. He has no criminal convictions, never drove recklessley, never had any accidents. And you know the worst case for his losing points......in those school times of 8 to 9.30 am and 2.30 to 4.pm, the new lower speed limits of 40 kph..and if you don't concentrat and you just came from a 70 kph zone [-X ....your done for! It's too easy to get caught out. In fact, I know a mother of 2 taking her kids to school, lost her licence in one day! On the way to school and back home in the morning, and in the arvo going to school and back home....done 4 times in one day!

Danet are you saying its ok to speed in school zones
i bet it was different when your kids were going to school
We are having the points system in the Territory starting on the 1st
of September and the advertising campain says its to get serial offenders off
the street to protect my familly .This should help heaps when you see the number of
repeat DUIs without a driving licence up here
cheers

I've heard this before here in Oz

never heard of anyone who actually tried it

so really can't say one way or another

maybe it's another Urban Myth?

but it sounds plausible.

Sorry danet ....... whether a bloke has 3 lovely kids and wife and is a suave businessman means JS .... he wasn't too suave when it comes to speeding in school zones and the advertising for them has been NATIONAL.

What's worse is the mother taking her kids to school ...... she should know better .... serves her right ... no sympathy from me for either of them.

Now if you were talkig about speed guns/traps or flash for cash cameras on safe roads, at the bottom of hills in dips etc. then I may agree.

But no way in school zones or areas well signed that there are cameras at lights or in certain zones.

Myth!!!!

You WILL get the points
you need to send your paper part as well as the cheque

when u get your NIP (notice of intended prosecution) you need to send your payment and paper licence to swansea
you WILL get the points
the only chance you may get off with it is if you try for the "speed awareness" course
you then have to pay £67 for the 1 day course instead of your £60 fine
these stories are old and a myth

Of course the only real way to avoid speeding points is not to speed in the first place.

freon...no I am no saying it's okay to speed in school zones, I am referring to the fact that because of it being new, and if you are in an area unknown, and if not concentrating on the times this 'changeable' speed zone area comes into effect, it's all too easy to be doing 60 kph, and then enter a 40 kph zone and be nipped by a waiting eager copper for that. I hope you understand my point...I find myself saying...."Oh no.....what time is it....is it that 40 kph time zone yet?" and worry about the timing of it.......it is only a relatively new law so it will definitely get some people's unawares for the beginning of it. And don't the coppers just love that
Another example of getting fined easily and losing points......We have this road no far from here, that is not so built up that used to be 70 kph ever since I had my licence, and last year, they changed it to 60 kph! Well, it's a trap because of habit, and why did they change it to 60? It didn't need to, it is a safe stretch of road, and in between towns....and I will say the truth here, I am going along at almost 70kph on this road, and then realize and hit the brakes to get it down and then worry in that one moment that I would have been nabbed for it....simple as that....not doing anything culpable....just the way it traps the motorist. And I also am not impressed with the pitiful way in which some police like to book people for doing 4 kph over the limit....that is real nit picking...and so many I know that are decent careful types that are just caught out that way.
I ask, is this a fair way of booking people? What's the real reason behind it? And according to statistics Australia wide recently in our papers, Victoria is the most heavily fined state of the whole of Oz! I have been on the Gold Coast for instance, between the airport and Surfer's Paradise, and the maniacs on the road astounded me that were getting away with what they were doing, and as I was doing the speed limint...I got abused for it from a couple of idiots wanting to speed. And why aren't the coppers booking them and making their presence felt here for these idiots to feel confident enough to get away with that?

Gnads, that's exactly why this mum lost her licence....we live in a very hilly region and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out how a car can easily go that extra 10 kph in the dip. And quickly at that. The point is, I concentrate on the road conditions, and the other vehicles around me, and it can take only a short minute and you look at the speedo, and it's doing 68 instead of 60.....all too easy....so instead of me looking and concentrating on all that is going on about me with the variation of the vehicle velocity.....I have to take my eyes off the road all the time now and apply the brakes more often? That to me is not about safe driving at all. I do it because I worry about them bastids getting my money for no real good reason!
