GUESTS

Post by baldy.smith »

I've just noticed that 30 guests are making posts!

Don't they realise that they have to sign up as a member before they can make a post and have it entered on to the boards.

There are 99 guests on the site at the moment.

I didn't even know you could make a post as a guest.
99 guests.
I have never seen that many on the site in my life. Is it a quiet night over your way or something.

They can type a post out Sherri but that is as far as it gets.
Unless they sign up as a member they are wasting their time.

I don't know if this helps to solve it,but I don't not log in UNLESS I wish to post...so are you not therefore counted as a guest ???

Maybe they are all those people who saw curly's blog-the car hoon blog, i forget what it was called exactly.
The people with modified cars.
I know they were crowding into his blog at one stage to post some comments. Maybe the Hells angel chapter has made its way to this board now.

If you are not logged on, you are counted as a guest and the same would apply to you, you would not be able to enter a post unless you first logged on. There are also hidden members, who log on but remain hidden (like me), but hidden members can make posts.

malrap, I suppose a lot of members don't bother signing in till they want to make a post. So they would show as guests.
Personally, I always sign in straight off as I like to see the aussie board and unless signed in, it is imvisible.

I've just tried logging off and then tried to make a post. You cannot even start to make a post until you log on.
Seems rather odd that so many guests are shown as making posts.

I can still see the Ozzie board when I am not logged on but I cannot enter it until I do log on. The Dark Zone does not show at all until I log on.

Maybe the whole thing with the numbers is not accurate then, baldy. It did seem strange 23 guests would all be trying to make posts at the same time. As you say, I did not think it possible till a pperson was logged on anyway.
When i said 'see the aussie board' I can see there is a board called that, even if I am a 'guest' but I always like to go into the board itself to check posts so that is why I just log on straight away, as it is my first port of call.

Go to the forum index that shows the names of all the boards, then scroll down to 'who's online?
Click on the blue words-who's online and it will give you a run down.

Scroll down to the bottom of the main index page.
On the left hand side you will see "Who is online"
Click on it and the list appears.

Thanks for that.I wonder if the problem is simple terminology???,in that although it says ...Posting a message....that actually is NOT exactly what it means?,as a lot are timed at 11pm,but I cannot find them!!!

Who knows Mal.

I see that some are also shown as "reading private messages" which means that they have to be a member and also be logged on and yet they are shown as a "Guest" it's all very strange. :?
