It is easy to understand why, if you live in a country that is torn by civil conflict, or just grindingly poor, any chance to improve your lot in life will be enthusiastically siezed and will no doubt be followed up by attempting to have families join them as soon as possible. People from Afghanistan already make up a sizeable proportion of migrants turning up Europe and now the inevitable happens: The US seems at last to have accepted that it cannot win in Afghanistan and however it tries to dress it up, is getting out. In order to do so, a deal has been done with the Taliban who will now enter into negotiations with the Government of the country. It was always a Taliban condition that they would not negotiate while foreign troops were in the Afghanistan. The clocks are about to be turned back and a return to the dark days of a Taliban dominated country with its harsh religious rule and where women have virtually no rights seems to be unavoidable.
I would imagine that there will in the coming months be a rapid increase in the number of people trying to leave and the immigration and legal systems of countries targeted will become bogged down for years to come with applications for asylum. Lawyers will grow fat on the profits from the chaos, the 'Human Rights Brigade will go into overdrive and the taxpayers will foot the bill. The US? It will have moved on to fields anew and its attentions will have swiveled back Venezuela, Cuba, Guatemala, Nicaragua et al. However often fingers are burned, the desire to bring about Regime changes in other peoples lands is just irresistible and history just goes on repeating itself.
