To Memor:
Sorry I didn't reply to your post way back when? I've been otherwise occupied and haven't had time to get on the web site lately. Anyway, you asked about my user name....... I use an abbreviated version of my real name.

By the way! Is anyone on this board old enough to remember St. John's school that used to be on Beech Rd (I think)......I'm really dating myself by bringing that up but just wonder about so many things that were part of my childhood in South Shields.

Thanks!

Hi ...
Well suffice to say that I'm a lady in my sixties! 8) But don't let that fool you.....I'm still a teenager at heart! Anyway, I attended that school back in the 1950's and never heard any more about the school. I left England in the late 1950's.

Can't claim to be a "Shield's lass" when I haven't lived there in well over forty years!! But do claim to be by birth and running the old streets of Shields as a kid. You probably didn't know a lot of them.......most long gone now! Alexander St., Francis St., Florence St., Dean Terrace? Temple St., etc., can't remember all of them!

The thing is........I've lived more of my life in the States than I did in England so that makes me a North Carolina gal by longevity.

Well about the "60'" is today's "40"......hmmm.....you're more right than you think you are!!

Let's just say about 60 going on 39!

Heard of Redwell School but can't remember exactly where it was as I never went there.
I do remember Hinton's supermarket at the Nook......... I lived near the Nook before I left England in the late 1950's.

What's with all this "Ebonics"!!! Write in English so I can understand it!
Remember I've been away a long time and not used to the slang.

I've seen what happens to these poor people with Ebonics. It's quite sad to watch them decline. They become less able to communicate in the advanced stages when they regress to baby talk, and often literally "Spit the Dummy" in order to get attention.

Mareserg, I'm 59 myself, half Geordie, half Black Country, 35 years in Australia. I pop onto this site looking for signs of intelligent life, but as you can see, it's a hopeless task.

Why don't you join me on an equivalent Black Country site? There are some darned good threads there, and they are in English.

BTW, Mareserg, are you in Pat Conroy country? I love his books and I've always wanted to visit.
