I was known as Barney then, and had mates like Olly, Clag, Sos and Vou-bag. The infamous 3S-4S-5S Flock!

Harry Wake used to reside in Room 4, too, and Zoony (aka Mr Smith).
Tunnicliffe was just Year Master at that time.

Jimmy Emerson - God rest his gin-pickled heart - was my main protagonist - I had a few stripes from him!!

And then there was Miss Drake and Miss McDonald, who made it all worth while!!!
Barney, did you do one year of 6th form or have you the years slightly wrong?. If you left at 16 you either did '71 to '76 or '72 to '77.

Ha-ha! I don't think I got the years wrong, Sandyman.

I didn't start at the GTSB until the 3rd form, having past the 13+, not the 11+. That's what the 3S/4S/5S forms were before the place went comprehensive.
So, if you follow the maths, I actually did 3 years in the 6th form.

The Wild Witch-Wizard of Whiteleas
Was a changeling's son from Mars.
He learnt his songs
From the Cosmic Throngs
And played them on a Fender guitar - Oh yeah.

Ah now I see, I forgot all about the 13+ exam. So you joined the school in 3S in 72. Have you been on the website, there's a load of Class Photos on there.
