White blood. You hit nail on head.
It bloomin cool. Morty road have terrible heating problems.
It so cold even in summer people think it haunted.
Pupils only chance of warmth is to sit through verbal assault of teachers tongue. Much comfort in hot air generated by angry teachers breath.

I leave you with Mortimer School song.
I not remember all the words but it have great chorus.

" dum de dum de dum... Burn the bloomin place down..De dum."

It very catchy

I not believe that 352 people look at this site and not leave message.

It must be true I was most unmemorable kid that nobody remembers.

I used to hang about with Alan (Bent) ham and .............. Okay so I not have many friends. My English bit better then. I have hair like toilet brush (brown). Someone must remember me.

Well, Memor, it's Sandy again.........don't want you to feel lonely on this site.

I'm NOT Sandra Turnbull.....but I remember her as well...although I think she was a bit younger than Lawrence Rutter. Did she have 2 brothers called David and Martin?

I was visiting Mam and Dad in S. Shields last week 12-17 Sep and happened to drive along Reading Road. I knew the old school had gone ages ago but had never seen the new one. Aaaaaaaaaar.......the old one HAD gone. Now.....I hated going to school there, even the Infants........BUT I think the new buildings are for wimps. Don't be surprised but I love the memory of that massive, old, dark red school with the playsheds, yards and outside W.C.'s. What a disaster now!! The children of today don't know what they're missing. It was 'charactor-building stuff'. Gave us a bit of backbone. No room for the wimps of today.

Regards,
Sandy

It disapointing you not Sandra Turnbull but I can live with that.

I not know if she has any brothers.

It really strange when I turn corner in road and expect to see Old Morty School there.

I also had fondness for Red Monolith as you call it.

I remember 1p ice lollys from corner shop.

and horrid teachers.

Do you remember nasty Maths teacher Mr Smith ?

I find out he kiddy fiddler he was in bail hostel awaiting trial for gross indeceny on some eight year olds.

He killed himself.

Where you live now ?

Sorry not to be Sandra Turnbull.....did you have the hots for her?

Don't remember Mr Smith, thank God, although I do remember a man who used to stand at the bustop at hometime. He used to watch all the girls in their short skirts run upstairs on the school bus........pervert! Wonder if HE killed HIMSELF?

Do you remember iced Jubblys?

Where do I live? I'm currently in Holloway and about to be released with a new identity but with destination of my choice. Pondering where to go.

Did you go to Morty all the way through.....infants/juniors/seniors?

Come on all you Mortyites!!!!! Is there no-one out there brave enough to join Memor and me?

Yes I remember jublies.

That pervert probably was Smith.

and yes apart from times to and from Slovenia I went all the way through.

You might have remembered foreign sounding kid with big bag of toffees standing outside girls entrance. I not have hots for Sandra Turnbull but did have them bad for Susan Gibson. Oy oy oy (happy memories).
She not look twice at funny looking kid with bag of toffees.

Actually I couldn't afford jubblys....just had to watch the other kids sucking away at them. I used to buy penny gobstoppers and Bazooka bubble gum with cartoons inside. And if any money just happened to fall out of mam and dad's pockets I used to get sherbert fountains. Delish!!!

Aaaaaar.....Susan Gibson! I was envious of her fantabulous eyelashes.....although, Memor, you probably were looking at something else! Haven't seen or heard from her for 30 years but we were great friends then. Went on for Further Ed together and even worked together for a short time. She married a gorgeous sailor called Fred.

Still can't remember this strange boy with toffees........probably too busy looking at Alan Barnett or Peter Finch.

Alan Barnett is doing great works with teenagers/youth worker , I think.

Dont know about Peter Finch ? I suspect he is really Greg King.

Its so nice taking to someone who is articulate as yourself.

You usually just get moronic grunts from most of them and the other half cant make converstaion to save their lives.

Greg King? You've got me there. There definitely was a Peter Finch. Had a brother called Stuart.

Memor, is it just going to be you and me conversing here? I see what you mean about nearly 700 views and no posts. They must have been interested to have a look. What's wrong with them all? Not even an insult which is unusual for this 'Sandancers Crowd'. Where are all the ex-Mortys?

They all ex Morty school boys and Girls but running true to form they've had all there curiosity and friendliness driven out of them by the regime that was Mortimer Road School of Secondary Education.

What a name.

Still I must admit they taught us better than kids are taught today..

It was only because the teachers got great delight in torturing us both physically and mentally.

Maybe now you've come on here others might get brave and post.

Bestest Regards

I remember a Mr Scurr who used to beat young children about the head with the pointer and also hurl the board rubber way across the classroom, aiming to knock someone's block off, and usually did! He was an evil looking man with a funny middle parting and wore yucky, hairy tweed suits. Definitely had a screw loose....hope I'm not talking about someone's Dad!!

Yes I remember him. There's photo of him on here complete with tweedy suit.

I not think he stand a chance in todays schools. He'd be debagged and bum painted bright Baboon red.

There also photo of Miss Turnbull remember her she have very close friend called Miss Blunt they travel round together in light blue Morris Minor. It only recently I wonder.................................

My favourite teacher was Miss Muir, chest stick out like radiator shelf.
Sigh................

Bestest Regards
