Had my first ever pint in there at the tender age of seventeen. The bar was that tall it was a struggle to reach the glass, and I probably looked ridiculous in a long collared shirt and kipper tie!
I remember it cost 10p a pint! (To my embarrasment, when I was asked what I would like a pint of, I replied "beer")
I can also remember a gloriously large open gas fire, one of them first ones to look like a real log fire, and barmaids with big jugs (or was that the snug in the Commercial where they'd fill them up for you?)

Yes, but you could take your own in to get filled up in many a bar, but I often preferred the size and shape of those on offer. Besides, if you went out with your hands already full of jugs, chances were you'd be back in the house five minutes later!!

Cor, nearly forgot about that, I had a mate who lived there when I was at school. I can't remember his name, but I do remember that he was a very fast runner. Strange, the things that you remember isn't it. Wonder what happened to him?
