How I miss stottie cakes! They have 'oven bottoms' down here and they are NOT the same!

Whatever!...........................Greggs still haven't learned the secret of a good stottie.

Great ones came from bakers like Marrs in Bertram Street and Stinsons in Ullswater Gardens, and probably a few others also!! :D

Stotty Cake (Or Cyek)

One of the greatest breads in the world.
For a recipe get hold of "The Canny Geordie Cook Book"
It's only about 30 pages and measures 4 inches by 6 inches.
Written in 1995 by Veronica Heath.
Published by Bridge Studios of Northumberland.
