You are right Fenella the Gutenberg Bible they were the first printed in Germany many years ago and as far as I am aware there are only two in existence
and the are in museums and are worth millions.
The King james Bible old testament was based on the the old Israeli manuscripts. And the New Testament is based on the original Greek texts.

im having serious trouble with the words " written by god " who did he give his copy to if your assertion that he did write it himself then he must have given that copy to some mortal person can you actually or anybody else actually name that person ?

All wrote the Holy Bible under inspiration.

of course i cant prove it no more than you can prove that some god wrote a book but i think its safe to say that anyone who claims to hear god is usually suffering from some form of mental illness . happens all the time, some person goes nuts and marches into a shopping mall with a rifle etc ........! .and they say they did it because god told them to

Just think about these fact for a few moments Bible Prophecy about the Jewish race has been proven to be one hundred per cent accurate. And Bible scholars have proved that these prophecies were written before the events took place. And the history of the Jewish race as described in the Bible is also one hundred per cent accurate.

I remember reading somewhere that the Bible contradicts itself in many instances. For those that believe in Religion, thats your perogative, personally, I dont believe any of it and in my opinion, Religion is a way of controlling the masses.

I believe its one hundred percent accurate. I also read it from cover to cover at least five times a year and have done this for a good few years and have not come across any contradictions of itself.

Thanks Pilot for the question-questions. I am no good at maths so I will give you the bible figures of Cubits and one cubit is equal to 18 inches.
The dimensions of the ark were. Length three hundred cubits the breadth fifty cubits and the height of it thirty cubits. And you should be able to work it out in feet.
Before the flood the Bible describes the land as one land mass but during the forty days and nights of rain the Bible describes the fountains of the great deep broken up. Biblical scholars believe that is when all the different land masses were formed that and plus after the forty days and nights of the flood as the waters drained off the earth rivers and canyons were formed.

There would have been a lot less animals then eg how many species of dogs are there today? it would only need one male and one female dog from the ark over the years by interbreeding as they continue to do to day to make hundreds of different types-sorts of dogs from the giant grey wolf down to the egg cup sized ones.

PS I read somewhere that according to the Bible figures given that the Ark would have been about the size of the Oriana.
300 cubits X 18 = 5400 which is over 5400 feet long. being that a cubit is one foot eight inchs long.

I understand that during the war zoo lions and tigers etc ate grass so there is no reason not to believe that all the animals including the carnivores were able to eat grass and seeds even today what are supposedly seed eating birds can and will also be able to eat meat. Many believe that todays carnivores only became meat eaters after the flood. A hippo's teeth are said to be the same as a carnivore and yet they only eat grass and hay etc.

300 cubits a cubit being 18 inches makes it 450 feet long, with a beam of 75 feet and a depth of 45 feet. When they talk about 1,250,000 species I don't think they count domestic dogs as separate species, they are all the same species just changed by mankind through selective breeding. But even if they do count man made variations that is just a tiny fraction. its quite obviously physically impossible to have two of every species contained in the size of ship Noah is said to have built, never mind keeping them apart and feeding them, the gathering would be quite impossible too.

Many new species have arisen via variation as my dog example you would have only needed one pair of dogs one pair of cats, horses etc and today there are many different types of dogs and cats which have arisen from one single pair. jackals cape hunting dogs striped and spotted hyenas, wolf maned, grey, etc all could and have risen from one orignal pair of canines that is why the ark was able to cater for far less species than what there are today.
They came to Noah he did not need to go out hunting for them as by todays standard they were very tame. The Bible points out that it was only after the flood that man and animals were able to eat meat because before that man and animals only ate fruit herbs seeds and grass. And Animals began to fear man.
