I took a total of 251 pics that afternoon Baldy, must say i was a little shocked at how far the river had gone down hill in the 8 years since i retired.

It was a big nesting place for the seabirds, they had to get rid of them; so they built
a large nesting place for them; downstream around the Bill quay area (I think).

That's right, the ledges were full of kittiwakes, it was the furthest inland nesting site for kittiwakes, when they made the ledges Kittiwake proof they built an alternative site for them just down stream.

Well i was classing my self as a seaman.....reminds me of a day i was onboard a Bulgarian bulk carrier and we were berthing at riverside quay at tyne dock.....the captain was a very serious type and as we made fast nothing was right for him....the quay was badly designed....the bollards were not in the right place for his ship....moan moan moan, in the end i turned to him and said "Captain i like you are nothing but a simple seaman what do we know about building berths" A smile flickered but he soon controlled it and got on with his moaning.

I often used to go and pick my brother up, and return him to his ship
at the Esso main quay via Velva Liquids. I also had to do the same
when he made port at Teeside.

Pilot Im really impressed by those photos. I can't believe how sharp photos can be as I already said to Comeonthen.

I loved you pic of the Baltic. Mr Stottie helped to hang the rusty plates on the sides (although they wern't rusty at the time but they were meant to be) . They might drop off some time in the next few years :D :D Nah, the designer had said they were safe.

Again, I can hardly believe the clarity of these photos =D> =D> =D>
