Road Tax Disc Question

Post by Derekftm »

Just renewed my tax
it got me wondering that if i stick it straight on me screen is it a "valid" tax disc?
cos really me other one hasnt ran out, and this one hasnt yet started
but i think most people would just stick it in as soon as they get it
so is it an offence?

:? :P :P :P

You get 14 days leeway to renew, I always just display the new one whatever the date, did you know you can now renew online, no more queues or taking documents down to the post office, they check everything electronically and send your disc through the post. 8)

I HATE PAYING IT.ONE THIRD ONLY IS SPENT ON ROADS THE REST SITS IN GORDON "THE THIEF" BROWNS COFFERS. THE ROADS ROUND HERE ARE DIABOLICAL LIKE A BLOODY MINEFIELD. ONE FAIRER WAY WOULD BE TO PUT MORE DUTY ON THE PETROL ETC AND YOU PAY AS YOU USE. BUT THATS A RIP OFF TOO 80% OF THATS BLOODY DUTY. LIKE THIS PAY AS YOU GO BOLLOX ITS BEEN SUGGESTED UP TO £1.50 A MILE TO USE CERTAIN ROADS SO ITD COST ME WELL OVER £200 A WEEK TO GET TO WORK AT THE MO I DO 37 MILES A DAY THERE AND BACK !!!),WOT A JOKE) THE RICH IT DOESNT AFFECT THE WORKING MAN WHO NEEDS A CAR WILL SUFFER.WHATS THE BIGGEST POLLUTER THE 8.4 LITRE BENTLEY OR MY GOLF TDI?
MPS,THEY WANT US TO GO GREENER YET TAKE PRIVATE JETS EVERYWHERE THEY ARE PUTTING THE FEAR INTO YOU ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING (ANOTHER EXCUSE TO TAX THE BOLLOX OUT OF YOU). FOR ME TO GET TRAIN TO NEWCASTLE FROM KINGS CROSS IS ALMOST THREE TIMES THE PRICE ( 4 PLUS HOURS ) THAN A PLANE FROM GATWICK (55 MINS) ..........
I WOULDNT MIND IF MPS STOOD BY WHAT THEY PREACH BUT SH.I.T.E. WITH THEM.LYING HYPOCRITES THE LOT OF THEM.
SAME OLD LABOUR SAME OLD LIES.

It used to be the case in Australia that you paid your road licence and got minimum required insurance included. So if a car was taxed, anyone with a licence could drive it, without farting around with extra insurance for other drivers. It was still far cheaper than UK road tax too! I'm not sure if that is still the case? Over to our Australian friends!? No road tax at all in France. Its been abolished. All you need is insurance and an MOT every 2 years!

Worth a try! In the UK, If your vehicle is an agricultural or grass cutting vehicle, it is tax exempt! So you could try bolting a Flymo to your front bumper!

Just to correct Pilot , you do not have any grace period before you get the car tax, if you do not have it running after the expired one or a SORN you can and ,most likely will be prosecuted.
How do i know, i have just been copped for £80 due to a few days over and i asked regards the rules.

Also if you have a new style tax disc and MOT where you get them on line the DVL computer runs a programme overnight to show all who have no tax or SORN , if you are the unlucky one a standard letter asking for a fixed penalty of £80 will be sent, beware.

So does England now, Pilot. But can you see the government aboloshing road tax? They have a lot of toll motorways here, but can only make them toll if there is also another main rout going to the same place, so you can choose. To Pay? Or Not To Pay? That Is the Question!

I ran my car on red for 2 years before I left the UK. And I thought it was still too dear! I know of 3 garages in the Gateshead / County Durham area who sell it no questions asked, if anyone is interested? I dont use red here (sold in most garages) but its good to know I could if I needed to. I would never buy a petrol car again!
