Regarding: “I challenge anyone from this school to contradict me that you all left school unable to read or write.”

As an ex-pupil of Chuter Ede School, I am here to contradict you. When I left said school I was both literate and numerate, and fully ‘compos mentis’. Why do you ask? What misconceptions do you have about the school?

Oh, and not to mention my excellent I.T. skills - hence my reply using this new fangled and highly complicated thing called a computer! 8)

Is 2 Posts the best this school can manage?

I was in the Last year to leave Chuta!. Since then I've had 18 years to learn to read and write. During that last year I have to admit, we did bug*er all.

I went to Chuter Ede became very literate in music even won the music prize award in 1970. I had to leave Chuter Ede in 1972 because of my father having to relocate to Northamptonshire. I got a good grounding the standards of teaching were higher than the school I eventually went to. However I went onto to get a degree not bad for a thickee from Chuter Ede. Most of the lads I went to school with there are believe it or not are now successful business men and have done all right for themselves.

I'm glad people took up the gauntlet.

No one from my school Mortimer has bothered to contribute It looks like I am the only literate one that left that school.
