Just out of interest, which club or pub has the best doormen? What are your thoughts and experiences of the Shields door staff?

its been a while since i was down shields..(last may to be precise)
i know quite a few door men, a few on roxannes/vogue are alright also a few on coyote wild can be nice too, i guess it depends on what mood there in!!!

I have two nephews who are doormen but they work in newcastle they are at icon they seem very fair or i hope they are, they say they do not get that much bother up there.

I tend to avoid any pub that has doormen as there is obviously a history of trouble on the premises.

Brian, in responce to your comment, having doormen on a venue doesn't mean there has been trouble there in the past, it's usually a condition attatched to having a public entertainments license.

I'm talking of normal old fashioned pub type pubs not club type pubs

:D yeah ! .. Black Bob, and Paddy at the crown..i was once removed from the Crown, by Paddy .. it wasnt me that was fighting, a fight had broke out next to our table, and the round of drinks we had just bought, went all over floor and us ,,so i was having my say ,then Paddy came over, thought it was me in the fight..and marched me down stairs to the door,..by the time he got me to the door ,i had explained what had happend..He was fine ,,he took me back upstairs, and got a bit embarest when my mates were saying;;Paddy you should have known it wasnt her ;,,as we all knew Paddy from the Tavern,, and he knew us well enough to give us free passes every weekend,he knew we wernt trouble makers.. He just jumped the gun a little ,,coz i was giving it some ,,over all our drinks being spilt..lol.. At end of day ,,he was just doing his job,but he was always a gentleman to us,,and always got in for free..As for the doormen of today! you get some friendly,,some not so friendly..but you get that with people who are out drinking ,,some are friendly ,,some are not ..but i do think doormen are needed..and the good ones tend to outweight the bad ones ,,,in my experience anyway..i dare say you will get a boat load of replys saying diffrent ..Drink and be merry i say ... : :eusa_dance:

I used to know Bob (Bob Anthony) quite well in the early days.
He used to hang out at the fairground in his tartan drape in the early sixties.

He retired from the crown a while ago, I'm sure it was after 25 years.
