The stone is allegedly a "mounting stone" to assist riders in mounting their horses. Starting to think i might just borrow it for the wife these days ! . . :lol: Does she do much mounting? I was thinking of borrowing it for myself :wink: , she's had one too many Donuts over the years . . ...

Yes your right only metalwork/woodwork rooms left and I believe are used as some sort of community centre hence the gym etc...and how could you forget Adolf Bruce (jab)he used to drive a little black ancient Austin a30, Kenny Pyle maths and a hard hitter, his mam lived next to my nana, and his mate...

I used to live next door to brothers Billy ( william ) and Charlton Benham in Eggerton Road ( off stanhope Rd ), not sure of their Mums name as she was a very quiet lady and didn't venture out much. . and for reference - Billy would be approx 52 now, and Charlton a little older ! . .

Hope street was at the bottom of School Loaning as stated before, if you stood at the top of School Loaning looking down towards green lane end Hope Street ( or NO Hope Street as we called it) was at the bottom, i lived at 27 School Loaning until 1966 when we moved to Whiteleas Estate when i was 12...
