A brilliant photo.I lived in Taylor St. until 1969 and remember the knife sharpener well .Does anyone have any old pics. of Taylor St. it would be great to see the place as it was all those years ago. I lived near the Corbridge St. end (145) and have fond memories of the place and the people.

My mam's aunt owned a second-hand clothes shop in John-Clay St. Annie Cook was her name .She also had stalls at Shields' and Chesterly St markets.My grandparents were Lizzie and Jack Cook and they lived at 208 Chi. Road,above Moffat's barber shop.Wonderful memories.

since found out that jimmy went into simpsons hostel in Hebburn and died some 15 years back.Aparrently he was buried in his boots.One thing about him was although he was always drunk no-one ever heard him swear. Just one of the harmless characters of our time.

Does anyone recall a guy called Jimmy Blackburn nicknamed "COWBOY" who used to live in John Williamson St. in the 60's.He always wore cowboy boots hence
the nickname.It only took couple of pints and he was legless.Just wondered what become of him
