Re: E U MEDDLING INTO UK JUSTICE
Sam the European Court have not said that the man should be 'let out.' What they have said is that there should be a time period stated for his sentence so that he can apply for parole. Not be given parole just apply for it. This is entirely different to saying he should be released.

Re: my daughter.
My cousin emigrated to Australia many years ago to give his 4 children a better life. They all returned to England for a couple of years to work in bars etc before returning home to settle down. Bushmermaid, I hope your daughter enjoys England as much as they did. She will be made welcome.

Re: Pension (Again)
Sherri I don't know what the wages situation is like in Australia but a lot of people over here are working for very low wages...not enough to live on in some cases. The Government subsidises low pay with tax credits for families. Rents and housing costs have soared. In London you need an income of ...

Re: Pension (Again)
In response to your question Pete...my mother looked after my children. She lived nearby and would arrive to look after them before I went out to work. My daughter works not because of some lifestyle choice but because in order to put a roof over your head in the South of England two salaries are re...

Re: Pension (Again)
Delilah how does it work ? I thought she would get a pension aged 60 (May this year) based on the years she was at home bringing up the kids, she stopped working when we got married, she was 18 years old when she retired. Now we are told her retirement age is 63 1/2 years old so she has to wait 3 1...

Re: Pension (Again)
Don't know the circumstances of Memor's situation but sometimes - quite understandably - a death is not notified in time to stop benefits being paid to the deceased person. Repayment of an overpayment would be from the estate of the deceased not their next of kin. I can remember benefits being paid ...

Re: Pension (Again)
Women got what was called Home Responsibilities Protection whilst bringing up children. This started in 1978 and covered the period when Child Benefit was being paid. However if the woman was paying married womans reduced rate contributions known as the 'small stamp' she didn't qualify. Your wife mi...

Re: Pension (Again)
It carries on to the end of the week Sherrie...so what you lose at the beginning your next of kin gains at the end. BTW Pilot has Mrs P claimed her pension based on your contributions or is she too young ...just a reminder so she does not lose out.

Re: Doreen Lawrence to be Labour peer
Many illegal immigrants are 'overstayers' on student visas. Almost every nail bar in the North East employs young Chinese or Asian girls barely speaking a word of English. These seem to be the sort of places targeted for raids by the Immigration authorities. Think it is a bit pointless stopping peop...

At the end of the day Beachbum his behaviour got him banned and not me. It probably did him a favour as he was becoming obsessive.

Re: 60 years ago the Korean war ended
I was 9 years old but can remember reading about the Korean war in the papers. No TV in those days. I can still remember a story about a soldier awarded the Victoria Cross. Think he was Scottish ...but can't remember his name. Also remember the 'Glorious Glosters' a regiment that suffered enormous c...
