Re: What's a fair thing?
My experience in claiming expenses as a Civil Servant leads me to suggest it should be the same code for MPs. If we were away on business our train ticket and hotel room were booked and a small amount paid for subsistence. Subsistence was determined by the time you were away and the length of your j...

Re: Lee Rigby Murder
Read a report recently that Anjem Choudhury's teenage daughter was on about how it makes her sick to go out of the house and see our decadent society ...she then goes on to extol the virtues of her new Converse shoes and how Dr Pepper is her favourite drink. Oh the irony.

Re: Paranoia, or is it?
As I keep saying when you are a fringe party you can get away with just about anything. When you get into the mainstream your policies are put under the spotlight. If you want to abolish something or introduce something you will be asked to show how much it will save or cost. Everyone knows UKIP wan...

Tell you what Ralph I'd settle for his MEP pay and allowances from now to June 2014. Reckon it would boost my bank balance nicely.

Re: Paranoia, or is it?
Mr Bloom was an accident waiting to happen. He has a good deal of 'form' in making unpleasant racist and sexist remarks. Once UKIP started moving from the fringes to the mainstream it was clear their policies and leadership would come under the same level of scrutiny as Labour,Conservative and Lib D...

When I was in South Africa we were watching a weaver bird raising her young in a nest in a nearby tree. A hawk swooped down and took the nest ,babies and all.

Re: why?
Until fairly recently most members of the public were unaware of the perks that MPs got. Some are legitimate a lot came into being as an under the counter form of improving pay. Margaret Thatcher quite rightly guessed that the public would be unhappy at MPs getting a pay rise when cuts were being ma...

No it's not a rare red legged sand hopper or something similar. Went out to watch the Great North Run this morning. Waiting for the runners to come past I noticed a forlorn looking little man with the rain bouncing off his bald head. It was none other than Mr Angry. I was just about to offer him som...

Yes I saw the result on our news bulletins. It remains to be seen whether good opposition translates into good leadership. Some commentators were saying it was more a case of Labour losing the election with all the in fighting that has gone on. Time will tell.

Sorry to hear about your horrible experience,Brian. Please don't judge the entire NHS on what was a catalogue of disasters. Hopefully it was a one off and everything will go OK in future.
