Market Pubs
O.K Here is a question. Can anyone name all the pubs that were in the South Shields market place since the war? Not King Street, just the market. My father used to say you could have a half in every pub and be very drunk by the end of the night. (Mind you, he could get drunk on two pints )

Hanraty's
Although my time of using Hanraty's was about a decade later than yours Baldy, the scams were the same. You have a good habit of bringing back memories for me :) . This time it was the short trousers. God they were rough on the legs, but the pockets were great, you could keep all sorts of junk in th...

Hannraty's scrap yard
Reading one of Baldy_smith's posts brought back memories of Hanraty's. I can recall spending hours on the town tip when it was at the ridgeway end of Cleadon Park Estate looking for copper wire, striping it out and walking down to Laygate to be paid for my effort. I can't remember what I recieved bu...

Abortion
I agree with you Baldy. I work in a college and the number of times I have heard young girls say, "I'm going to get pregnant so as to get a house and leave home". Some may be in jest, but not all. However, I am Pro simply because there are many reasons for it to be legal. P.S How many post...

Yeah Jimmywizz your right. The thing is they were nicking the lead pipes before the gas was turned off. We were wondering when we were going to go of with a bang!

Lytton Street
I was one of the last occupants of Lytton Street before it was demolished to make way for the Lytton Park Estate. We lived at number 108. I can remember lying in bed listening to the thieves stripping out all the lead and slate tiles in the empty houses around us.
