My father worked for Stephenson Clarke until 1972 on a lot of colliers. Some that come to mind are the Frederick John Evans, Firelight, Fireguard, Sheaf Arrow, Samuel Clegg, Accum. If you lived in the Laygate area in the 1940s an 1950s the above dvd is an essenial purchase. The photographs are amazing and bring back lots of memories.

You are right that stotties are different from our youth. They must be mass produced by whoever supplies Greggs and store. There were lots of corner shop bakeries who produced their own. We got ours from Marrs on the corner of John Williamson Street who also did a nice f*dge. The same with saveloys,...
