the first meal the army ever bought me was from the a1 cafe, i signed on at the recruiting office just a few yards up the road and as it took all day they gave us a few bob for our dinner which most people spent at the a1. i think i got the braised kidneys.............

In the past the north sea was called the german sea or ocean, i seem to remember someone telling me that ocean road was once part of the river before it was filled in...maybe thats how these names come by

go to the genuki site and there you will get the northumberland/durham family hist society and there you will find the dates, I keep meaning to go meself but cant make it.I think it meets in the pub on top of westoe road
