Re: Commonewealth Games

The actual athletic competition wasn't what I was getting at Andy.

But I did hear that Athletes had an 8 klm walk to attend one venue event?

Re: Man or Beast, which is the Real Pest?

Apart from a few 'pest species; being introduced accidently, most of them were as you say, introduced by Australians either to remind them of their old lives, or to provide sport by hunting and killing them or like the Cane Toad, to try and cure a pest that was affecting another alien plant species...

Re: Commonewealth Games

I thought the closing ceremony was so boring, couldn't stop yawning, and kept getting up to do some chores instead of relaxing and enjoying the big TV. It was more like a disco or something.....all that singing......and Peter Beattie, always stuffing up, always apologizing.....I was wondering what ...

Re: Commonewealth Games

you would have thought with all those other countries winning medals(apart from Australia) channel 7 would have played at least one anthem from another country!!!!! Yes Andy I reckon that was poor form .. but I suppose that fitted in nicely with the rest of the stuff ups coming from poor organising...

Re: Commonewealth Games

Me and Mary went to the athletics on Saturday and were really impressed with the organisation. Stayed in Brisbane for the night and caught the free train and shuttle bus to Carrara from South Bank station. Food was a bit pricey but the stadium was good and a lot of final action on at the same. High...

Re: Man or Beast, which is the Real Pest?

Besides domestic livestock & Kangaroos .... the rest are introduced pest species that also have a devastating effect on the countries native species. I take them over over the introduced ferals. In that I also include wild dogs & feral cats. There are millions of feral cats all over the continent ....

Re: Commonewealth Games

Closing ceremony a fiasco as well. Former Athlete commentators give organisers a blast. It's turned out a dud all round. Over indulgent opening ceremony for the Indigenous ... not the concept of the Games or the Athletes. Poor transport arrangements. Turned the rest of the Gold Coast into a ghost to...

Re: Man or Beast, which is the Real Pest?

I'll no doubt get abuse from some of our Australian Boardies, but listening to the radio today, I heard a short news item concerning 'feral' donkeys in Northern Territory, particularly near Katherine. Just yet another species 'introduced' that has gone wild (much nicer word than feral which I think...

But I might add ....it's hardly a torch .... & how will it light anything.

We're so bubble wrapped they don't trust anyone with a real torch & fire.

Re: Commonewealth Games

Lack of buses last night ... people waiting for hours.... up to 1 & 2 am ... ended up walking 3 klm to taxis etc.

First night & they can't get it right.

So much for Peter Beattie & the Transport Minister.

Re: Aussie Cricketers Caught Cheating

I never thought I'd see the day when Australians would cheat. BUT to make matters worse they'd break down in tears on television. I'm not sure what is worse.  Yeah the world is full of softcorks who won't take responsibility for their actions Memor. And they have plenty of softcorks ...

Re: Aussie Cricketers Caught Cheating

Well Lehmann quit as coach too .... although they say he knew nothing about it. I don't believe that .... if he knew nothing why resign? All very emotional interviews .... but bottom line is they got caught ... that's the problem and they weren't any good at cheating either. The severity of the puni...
