Re: London Again......

That's interesting, daddyo. I notice the man shouted out allahu Akbar so it sounds as if it was a terrorist inspired attack. That doesn't mean he necessarily had connections but I think what is particularly evil about IS is it is violent and appeals to a subset of people who may feel isolated or may...

Re: Breast Feeding in Public

I didn't think this thread had anything much to do with boobs, I thought it was about a politician breastfeeding while giving a speech in parliament.

Actually, even if you changed it to the politician bottle feeding the baby while trying to give a speech, I would still think it was not appropriate.

Re: Breast Feeding in Public

Such a subject is perhaps the most boring one ever to be brought up here, I am the most qualified expert on the subject, I put it down to 2 words and they are "big deal". You have to be kidding me. When it comes to boring, the football threads beat it by a country mile. In my opinion. But everyone ...

Yes, but not a particularly sensible one in my opinion.

Re: Breast Feeding in Public

Having been breast-fed myself as a baby (cannot claim to remember it), I consider breast feeding a natural part of life and I have never given it a second thought when seeing a baby being so fed. That said, was Larissa Waters not taking it to extremes by choosing to feed her baby while addressing P...

Re: London Again......

If someone stabbed me I'd not be worrying too much as to whether it was a terrorist act or a hate crime, I be more inclined to worry whether I was going to d*e or not. I suppose I might find time to say, hey mate was that a terrorist act or a hate crime or are you just mental, but I think I'd be mo...

Re: Yum Yum Freon

I eat meat but I'm not 100% convinced every practice here in Aust is above board either. My daughter who is vegetarian won't even buy chips from maccas as she read a report that their chickens are not humanely slaughtered. I don't know the truth of it one way or the other but it's pretty sad if it i...

Re: Yum Yum Freon

Been up to Qld several times, Freon.
Have eaten a few more exotic meats but what I don't like is the idea of animals being tortured, which is what is in the report.
Wouldn't matter if I went to every country in the world, that attitude wouldn't change.

Re: The Big Story of the Day........

Well, daddyo, the hat IS the same colour!! Must say she looks very nice in it, too. Reminds me of several years ago. Front page headlines were about some footy match. Tucked in on about P6, in a small column, was a bit about how some experiment scheduled to be done (in NY I think it was) had a small...

Re: London Again......

Was van man drunk or on d*ugs at the time? The reason I ask is it seems to have been an opportunistic type of crime. A hate crime yes; deliberate, yes. Well planned? Doesn't give that impression. What has been interesting is the response by officials as there hasn't been a soul who has hesitated to ...

Re: Yum Yum Freon

"there are plenty of other places to put on higher up on the bucket list" Places to visit will probably be somewhere on a bucket list but a bucket list won't consist only of places to visit. But I'll put it this way: Eating dog meat in Bali isn't on any of my 'to do' lists. Visiting Bali-yes, I wou...

pointless having a bucket list if you never go anywhere sherri
Who said a bucket list had to consist only of places to go?
Those things are well down any list of mine.

Also, who said good places to go are always overseas? Plenty right near here.

Re: Yum Yum Freon

I read that too, gnads. What meat people eat varies between cultures, I understand that, but what is distressing is to read some of these dogs were tortured. I don't care if it is a dog, a cow, a sheep. Torture isn't necessary. I would be wary of buying street food there too. Not that my husband is ...

As they only travel 40-60km a year, Victoria should be safe for a while yet Max. And the good news is I am in southern Victoria. And I don't own a poncy poodle either, so this is my lucky day, hey? They'll need to survive well below 5c if they want to make a go of it here. Oh that is good news, you...

Re: road temporary repairs.

The road repair people here seem to be okay. One of the roads near here was getting a bit rough. In they came with lots of heavy equipment and the entire section of road was redone in a day or so. Sometimes pot holes can take a while till they are repaired though. I've been pretty impressed with mos...

Re: oh dear.

Your roads may go a bit soft in patches but as soon as it cools off, they'll harden again. So by Saturday things should be back to normal. :D
Yes, it's fake news but the weather is always good for a run.
