Re: brexit

Those 73 who represent Britain "for as long as the country remains in the bloc' won't be in any tearing hurry to leave. The longer you stay in, the longer they get their wage.
Maybe cut them out of any negotiations for a start, they have a conflict of interest.

Re: brexit

Maybe 2 years isn't a long enough time in the first place regardless whether it is the UK or any other country wanting to leave the EU. Two years isn't all that long, granted. But it is long enough if they had really tried. The months fly by if you sit around and procrastinate or just talk about it...

Re: brexit

I wouldn't overly worry about America. I know they have tended to step into other countries a fair bit but my understanding of what Trump wanted was to concentrate on USA and stop spending the money overseas. The funny thing is, people complain when USA interferes then complain when it doesn't step ...

Re: brexit

I don't think anything dire will happen if Britain leaves the EU.
I think change is always a challenge & people worry about it, but once it happens, people adjust.

They should just do it. Never know till you give it a go. it might even be better.

Re: brexit

I wouldn't have called a vote of 60% in favour to stay as all that decisive either but it would have still been a win and as such, to be honoured.

Whether the no result was expected or not, it was still a No result.

They need to hurry up, it's not a good look, just floundering around.

Re: brexit

This brexit thing seems to be dragging on way longer than it needs to.
Your politicians must be an indecisive lot. Either that or they just take referendum results as optional.

Hope you're enjoying Christmas too, Champion. In a changing world, it's nice to know some things are reliably the same.

Re: The Royal wedding

Sorry danet, I've seen it now.

I read somewhere that Australia was giving them a donation to a favourite charity. Maybe they got the hats plus the charity donation.
It would make sense if most presents were donations to charity. It's not as if they need a new dinner set or vase or anything.

Re: The Royal wedding

Ralph-nail on the head. The yanks are right. :D I'm a bit disappointed no one has commented on the dress yet but what can I expect, I suppose, on a board of mostly males. I liked her tiara. Stunning. Veil, stunning (bit on the long side though, given her train was fairly short) Dress, elegant, timel...

Re: The Royal wedding

If you enjoyed it, fair enough. All I am saying is I thought he started off well enough but I was waiting for the message and was disappointed as the theme didn't develop. It's not that I don't enjoy preachers with passion. I grew up listening to a few Irish priests so I found the black minister on ...

Re: The Royal wedding

I don't think clear thinking is always one of your skills, Andy. You run on emotional reaction, not logic. I never said there was anything wrong with Harry marrying Meghan. I never said there was anything wrong with the gospel singers, in fact they performed well, although I do suspect part of the r...

Re: The Royal wedding

The preacher's sermon was very poor & lacking in substance, andy.
I don't care whether he was black, white or purple. In fact, I suspect the only reason he was asked to talk at all was because he was black.
To me, that is not up to date at all. In fact it is just another form of racism.
