Re: New Zealand

You'll be fine in the sky rail, it is fully enclosed. Sometimes when you're probably only going to a place once, it's worth it just to pay over the money if there's something you want to do. I still remember being in Rotorua & thinking we would visit the baths there. Like a swimming pool only they'r...

Re: New Zealand

 Niagraa, it was over 9 years ago so it might be a bit late to be looked at. I just had these fleeting moments when I felt like I was still on a ship, swaying. Lasted about 48 hours, wore off. I can get affected by motion, whether on a boat or in a car or bus. Not so much nowadays. Can't say it...

Re: The weather.

Well its snowing as i type sherri....i love rhe snow  I love it glittering on Christmas cards. not sure how much I would love it in real life. Have an American friend on about an acre & she says it is a pain when it builds up along their long driveway & has to be cleared before they can go out.

Re: New Zealand

It's expensive but it's quite a long ride and an amazing view. Down here in Victoria you'll pay a premium for other similar rides such as Arthur's seat Eagle. Everything aimed at tourists is expensive, unfortunately. Come to think of it, you would probably enjoy the cruise around NZ too, Rosie. Alth...

Re: New Zealand

It would be fun lola trying to work out if your seasick or coming down with an infectious sickness, then getting locked in your cabin for the rest of the trip and that "sky rail thing" I hear pensioners can pay off the ticket, was up that ways a few weeks back $150 at ride. $150? That's bloody ridi...

Re: The weather.

It could be, Sam. Some time after lunch, anyway. I would have put it at a bit later, maybe after 2, as they didn't arrive till just after 12.30 then we had to have lunch & change.

Re: New Zealand

That sounds like a lovely trip, Rosie. I think it sounds like the one danet & I went on a few years back. The sky rail trip over the rainforest was lovely, well worth it. Took us up to Kuranda market if I recall. You're a Queenslander so maybe you'll be able to cope better, but we went over Sept/ear...

Re: New Zealand

She'll be right, Rosie. It's not that often they have an outbreak so you're not likely to be affected. Take some wipes with you if worried, and wipe down the phone, door handles etc in your cabin. After that, there is hand cleaner throughout the ship. If you're not too sure how you'll take to sailin...

Re: The weather.

Red hot where I am. North Africa near Alexandria. Gales/snow in the UK  Hope you're enjoying your holiday. A bit hot here today. About 42c which I think is roughly 114f We spent part of the day like this. Even I went in. Grandkids loved their yellow submarine. Younger one tried to push his big...

Re: If you want to print something

I thought the blurb link might be useful for a couple of boardies here who write their own things. You can actually opt into having the company sell your book (in print or as an ebook) if you want to. The cost is the Blurb cost plus whatever % you nominate as your profit. Obviously all that is not a...

Re: If you want to print something

I tried to send the pdf to a couple of people and found it was apparently too big a file to attach in emails. My email account suggested saving it to their dropbox and using a link from there. probably like how we do photos on this website. Thank goodness it seems to work for people, although not on...

Re: If you want to print something

Thanks, niagraa. I made it for my kids and sister & nieces, hence all the photos of them at the end, so they see the connections :D

I wouldn't have known how to scan it as a pdf. Not sure if the system would allow it as they sell the pdf for $4.95 so they probably block copying.
I just paid for it.

If you want to print something

I know that there are some of the English boardies who enjoy doing a bit of work with research and photography etc and most of the rest of us have lots of digital happy snaps so thought I might just give a heads up on one printing company. For several months now I've been slowly working on making a ...

Re: How old is old?

Completely true, gnads. It is actually against regulations I think to ask someone's age in any job interview, but they can gauge it by looks & work history to a large extent. I sometimes wonder why they don't give people past 50 more of a go as I'd say they would be as loyal and stable as the younge...

Re: How old is old?

 Eww, Jeff.  Pilot, sometimes I see photos of people in the paper & it will say so & so, aged 46 (or similar) and I'll feel shocked because I could have sworn they were about the same age. Late last year I met up with a woman & her husband I hadn't seen in decades. I was their brides...

Re: How old is old?

I see you've updated your reply. If I recall, it was originally just 'gee". Let it go, Max. To say someone is intelligent does not necessarily mean you idolise the person or agree with everything a person says. The reverse is true too. If someone disagrees with you, it doesn't necessarily make that ...
