A look back....

...at some interesting (to me) old photos. If you have any others to add, I wouldn't mind seeing some. I came across some of these on facebook. Winston Churchill, 1881 (since war seems to be a gripping topic on this board, provides endless entertainment) http://i.imgur.com/WXoExtZl.jpg This was an a...

Re: Up The Creek Without a Paddle

The Jews thought exactly like that. Don't fight the enemy, too powerful, just co-operate, don't antagonise and it should all be okay. That's what one of them wrote after the war. It didn't work out that well for them, it just made the Nazi's job easier. I agree Britain could have had peace at any pr...

Re: Up The Creek Without a Paddle

Regardless of how much money England had saved, I still think if Britain had not gone to war, the war would have gone to Britain eventually. You only have to look at how things turned out for places such as France and the Netherlands. Sherri, It's all about timing. I learnt early in life that you d...

Yes, we read about that, gnads. Disgusting.
And won't have won them any brownie points.
My daughter was really worried about going there, but they were already booked in.

Re: Up The Creek Without a Paddle

The last time I was in London........I thought I was in Bagdad on the Thames. Feel free to whine about everyone else and watch yourselves dwindle down to a puppet nation of Syria. I don't agree that Britain should have kept out of the war. I don't think they could have, or not for too long. I think...

Good news Week

What's one of the best things you have heard of this week? Big or small. I saw this report on a website. http://www.9news.com.au/national/2017/05/18/19/31/melanoma-two-drug-treatment-sydney/?ocid=9newsfb Not sure if everyone will be able to see it, sometimes these websites limit it to certain countr...

Re: A little tour of Hamilton Island

It should be lovely there whip. Your weather must be starting to warm up by now.
I know it is a lot cooler in Victoria. No swimming here at the moment unless you're very hardy!

Re: A little tour of Hamilton Island

I'm not sure how much the older one will remember as she just celebrated her third birthday, so maybe just a tad young. But it was her first experience on a plane so I am sure she will remember that for a little while. My daughter said the flight there was the extreme limit of what she could put up ...

A little tour of Hamilton Island

I thought some of you might like to see a bit of Hamilton Island. It's a little island that is part of the Whitsundays, up in Queensland, so a more northerly part of Australia than where I live. There are no cars on the island, most of the island is covered in bushland. The Whitsundays are a very sc...

Re: Up The Creek Without a Paddle

What makes you think he was "Keen" before the election? He has a vast reputation for not paying his subcontractors. He has bankrupted more companies than any other entity in the USA and he won't release his tax returns so the American public can determine if in fact he is worth what he says he is (...

Re: How much money does the Queen make for Eeeengland?

Yes, the British heritage will become far less important as time moves on, but you may find that in the fullness of time whichever culture becomes dominant may not be to the liking of the old colonial descendents - perhaps one where Muslims with their very different cultural traditions and customs ...

Re: Up The Creek Without a Paddle

I'm not a Trump fan either but I am suspicious of the media. I think there could be a lot of bias and attempted manipulation of public thinking going on.
Trial by media.
I'd love to know if Trump is as keen on the job now as he was before he was elected.

Re: Red neck texas laws

Yes, every country has some weird ones.
I think there used to be some law about cars, that someone waving a red flag had to walk in front of a car to warn people it was coming?
We're almost back to that here in Vic where they keep lowering the road speeds to almost walking pace.

Re: OMG Does She Have This much Power?

The Queen owns all the fishes in the sea? First up, that yellow outfit the queen has on in the first photo-stunning colour, really suits her. About the fish. No, only those close in to British shores. The report said: This statute is still valid today, and sturgeons, porpoises, whales and dolphins ...
