Re: Thankyou Victoria

If you mean Sweden, then that is a country with a small population of about 10 million, more spread out. They have had about 85,000 cases & close to 6000 deaths there, compared to our 26,000 cases and 678 deaths. Or if you look at Indonesia, a country where the leaders originally said the warm clima...

Re: Thankyou Victoria

I think the trouble, Max, is people expect definite answers about the unknown. Realistically, if we open up while daily new community infections are in the 100+ range, the virus will take off again. When will numbers get right down into 10 or less? Dan doesn't know & neither does anyone else really....

Re: Thankyou Victoria

Yes it has been, Ralph. A snake too, but only a little one. Plenty of cockatoos and other birds as well. I wasn't actually going to bite when I saw Max's post, but then I thought-what the heck, the board isn't the same with all sweetness and light and one liners. People enjoy a bit of bite more.

But take care. We weren't smart arses, that's the thing. It might suit you to think that's why it is here & tha...

Re: surprize

I don't know, Sam. At least it was someone who was trying, which is more than you can say of some.

It was your chance to say what you'd like to see done in your area. Go for it. :D

Re: Anzac

Very interesting, Jeff. Thank you The section of letter I posted above was written by a young soldier, William, to his father in Birchip, Vic. It was an account of the battle of Sari Bair. He survived the war, came back, married and had a family but died in June 1939 at the relatively young age of 5...

Anzac

Saw some photos of commemorative art from Gloucestershire, England. Very effective, I thought. Probably suitable for ANZAC day too. http://i.imgur.com/e0vHnjp.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Wjn5VYo.jpg I've lately been putting together some of the family history too, and here's a small bit of a letter writt...
