great photo Mr A! Shame the river looks so empty, even when I was a kid there were ships in the river. My Dad was working at TDE right up until it closed. The pics of the yard were taken after that when there was no one around.

My Dad served his time as a riveter at Readheads in the 50s, did his national service mid 50s then back to Readheads till he retired 10 years ago. I'm guessing our Dads would have known each other.

that's fantastic!! Any idea of the date? Is it OK if I take a copy for my family history stuff. Mu hubbys gg grandfather was living in Portberry St in 1891 and died in Lytton Street in 1913. My mam was born in Lytton Street in 1938.
