Re: 17 Dead and 11 more wounded

It said on the News, that this is the thirteenth shooting at a school this year - and we are only halfway through February. Here, we get teachers grumbling about pay and conditions, but at least they are fairly sure they will be home each night.

Re: Armed Robbery

South Shields 15 min's of fame  You have clearly forgotten the frequency with which Mr Angry would post pictures of the lobsters that he would almost pick up daily from the rocks around our shore. I would have thought that might have impressed a man who admires them so. Ah, but that is fame - ...

Re: Fake News

Pretty brazen lie when you think about it. The people present could easily have been verified, you would think. It looks as if he got caught out anyway. You're right, it was hearsay. It's worse than hearsay Sherrie, as there is nothing to support that it was ever said at all. It wasn't until it was...

Re: Want to go to Mars?

Me too Ralph. But, you've got to wonder how long it would take to get to Mars. They better bring a lot of wine & booze with them.....not to mention the size of the crapper. I'm sure those guys have thought through the logistics of all of that. You have to talking years for these expeditions and som...

Re: Armed Robbery

I was having lunch downtown when the owner told us there was an ongoing robbery at Barclays bank in King street, South Shields. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/south-shields-police-incident-live-14283456 I mean to say you expect this sort of thing in Texas or OZ but not in good...

Fake News

There has been a great deal of talk in the media about 'fake news' and usually we are told that it started as a post by some idiot on social media, or by 'Bots' created by Russia to try and undermine our democratic elections. Seldom can the fake news be attributed to a named person, but here is case...

Re: Want to go to Mars?

The Universe has always fascinated me, its mind blowing, can our brains even imagine infinity, its been calculated there are more stars out there than there are grains of sand in the World and many of our closest Stars have planets, so the number of planets must be huge (huge doesnt really cover it...

Re: Want to go to Mars?

Do a little research Gnads. He owns SoaceX and has put into orbit numerous satellites for the Military and NASA. He has developed rockets that are recyclable. Some of them can take off from a launch pad and be returned back to the same launch pad in the same vertical fashion as they were launched i...

Re: Want to go to Mars?

Daddy O, I watched the launch - brilliant. I know and understand why the Government might find it hard to fund such a project when there are so many calls on taxpayer's money, so it is good to see private enterprise giving it a go. Pure show-Biz putting his car as the cargo, but certainly attention ...

And soap. I suspect that if and when you met any Poms Max, your nose was too near to your own arse and you were too inebriated to realise it. You have a very nasty side to you and you should try to keep it under control. There are enough insults on this site without you further putting the boot in.

Re: I'm going on a Cruise

All booked and paid for including insurance. Brisbane to Port Douglas and back again - 7 days from 17th March. I've even bought me a pair of swimmers so I can try out the waterslide. It would seem to be a very interesting part of the coast. I look forward to seeing your photos when you get back.

Wonderful Science

I watched a programme on TV this evening where a scientist clearly demonstrated how unfair treatment can lead to aggressive behaviour. Two monkeys were in cages placed side by side. The monkeys had a number of small rocks in their cages. They were taught that by giving the scientist a rock, they wou...

They have their ways for weeding you out. Trying to get you on medical grounds is well used. Maybe it is their pay-back for those who managed to get out early on medical grounds with an enhanced pension.

Re: How old is old?

I'm 73 and well past the age when most of my family have headed skywards. Mentally I still feel young, with the added advantage of the knowledge that comes with age. Physically I feel every year of my age and maybe a little extra. I have accepted that it is unlikely I will still be around ten years ...

Re: Kindness and Understanding

Ralph, I had to have a smile where you mentioned your post was long. To me it wasn't, in particular. I've been on Ancestry the last few days following leads for other people & to see a few short paragraphs in your post is a walk in the park in comparison. :D I would agree that humans possess more c...

Re: How many chances?

True, Ralph. I don't think there will ever be agreement about sentencing or punishment. I found that very much in the schools. Parents were all for stricter discipline. I'd say if you were to do a survey, almost 100% for it. But when it came to an actual situation... not for their child. When their...

Re: Kindness and Understanding

having visited many buddhist temples in thailand, i get the impression that the buddha is treated as a god by the offerings that are made to the statues of buddha. such as flowers, food and gold leaf being used to cover the buddha statues. so is buddhism a teaching of a way of live or is it driftin...
