Re: Is this the North Easts most embarrasing moment?

The present Labour Party reminds me of those like Derek Hatton who took Liverpool to disaster and Michael Foot who was another disaster. Happily, some North East Constituencies at long last realised that the Grandees of the Labour Party have no more in common with the working classes than Boris has ...

Re: brexit

Well, that's the election over and a resounding defeat for 'The Remainers'. We had a clear case of the minority making a hell of a lot of noise. Now all we will hear is moans and bitter cries of "You just wait, it will all end in tears!!! :D

Re: brexit

That picture about sums it up Champion. I watched the Parliament Channel yesterday from 12 noon until Parliament was prorogued in the early hours. The 'Remainers' have made the Country ungovernable. They won't even let Boris call an election without trying to impose conditions that ensures they win ...

What are the Odds?

Many Years ago, I made a post on 'The Old Codgers' part of the Sanddancer site. About three years after I made the post a friend that I had not seen for about 50 years, had posted underneath, asking if I was the person she remembered from those far distant times. I sent and email through the moderat...

Re: brexit

I suppose there is an inevitabilty that we will soon have a General Election. It may turn out that it will not change the voting numbers on Brexit very much, but it hopefully will clear some of the dead-wood out of the House. Too many tired old faces with tired old arguments... Lord Young, a Governm...

Re: BYE BYE EVERYBODY

How quiet the site has gone. Topics have quite a number of 'views' listed, but very few comments. Does that mean it is just a handful of people keep returning to see if there is still life out there? There is plenty going on in the world so no lack of topics. Just about everyone I encounter these da...

Re: brexit

We just came back from a cruise from Singapore to South East Asia, thinking there may be all Chinese or Singaporean guests on board, to our surprise, 80 % English from England! We always opted for a shared dining table so we didn’t have to wait long for a seating, plus it’s sociable and make new fr...

Re: Royal Engagement

I think Aud's right in that Diana sparked a lot more media interest in the royals, but I think most of that was about glamour. Not a lot has changed. These are different times, I suppose, where photos flash around the globe and I think the focus these days seems to be on the clothes the women wear ...

He should have abdicated,he just wanted his bread butterd on both sides,he is desprate to be king,i think if the royals want to survive he should stand down let William be King,he is allowed to do that surely ? .I think the royal family would not have had much support off the people for mych longer...

Memor why go? You turning off the internet altogether? When I came on here in 2003 I used to enjoy your family stories ... very funny I only pop in now and then and from what I've seen you were doing the same In fact I think you already had a long stint of absence Official departures seem to sound ...

Re: brexit

What really irritates me, is the way reporters keep going onto the streets and picking on bloody idiots to ask their opinions about what is happening. So many, particularly the young, who we are told are all important because 'it is their future we are dealing with' say things like: "I don't really ...

Re: Summer/Winter Holidays

I remember that one. How he and his wife could do that to their children is difficult to comprehend. Even though he was deeply in debt as a result of failed property investments. From reports I saw, he seemed unable to understand why his son refused to have anything more to do with him. Yes, it was...

Re: Summer/Winter Holidays

Funnily enough, while we have spent more than a year of our lives in Panama,we have only seen the Canal from the air as we arrive at or fly from the airport at Panama City. We then have to catch a connecting flight to David (pronounced Daveed) airport where we are about an hours drive from the cond...

Re: brexit

I see Sir Elton John is now preaching from the stage, telling people he is ashamed of the UK and implying the people who voted to leave are stupid. What is it with the show biz crowd that they think because they get paid big bucks to sing or dance or act, that that makes them some sort of political...

Re: BYE BYE EVERYBODY

I came on here (someone pass me a cloth) about 1997. I've had a lovely time I've had some great arguments with the Great Jake and GOAT Some fabulous laughs...... Time to say good bye to everyone and good luck. As you say Memor, we have had a lot of laughs and 'chewed a lot of fat' over the years an...
