laws had a general dealers store in frederick street, they sold paraffin, paint, glazing requirements eg glass putty. basically the forerunners of to days diy store.

the pulley bank went across the mineral line and was opposite the derby street baths, it was a very steep humpbacked bridge short and very steep. it was to help get the horses and carts up hence the name, crossed it many times in my youth.

where b&q are today used to be south shields goods yards used to be, the station was just past where halfords is today. feel free to correct if i'm wrong.

i would have killed for a beef burger when i was in Thailand, mince and dumplings, pea soup. tripe and black pudding and pease pudding, full english breakfast with fried bread, and english mustard.

knew the family well they lived two doors from me, jimmy was goalkeeper for south shields schoolboys.
